Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones was asked on
@1053thefan
about a potential red zone package later in the season for Trey Lance (utilizing his running ability): “Well, we feel great about Dak. Dak is all raring and ready if we want to turn him loose. But this is a long season. He would be up for it, but he also knows the best way we can win football games is Dak playing quarterback for the Cowboys.”

They won’t do it. Scared will
Look good. He dummies if dak doesn’t produce This year it’s time to move on. I’m hoping he steps up and does well but not looking good.

Stephen never said no, I’ve been saying every since we signed Trey Lance that I feel at some point during the season, especially if we continue to have redzone issues they’re going to come up with a package to use him in the redzone, giving him the option to throw or run. Jerry said the day we signed him that he could help us now or in the future.

Yes they are scared the player they traded for, who costs a fraction of a qb contract, will look good.

I'll never understand why Trey Lance is in any conversation when it comes to playing this year.
As the backup, I agree it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but as a situational QB in the redzone, it does make some sense. Assuming he can still run after the ankle injury he suffered last year he could provide an interesting option in the redzone for a play or two. It’s been done around the league many times. That’s how Randall Cunningham and Colin Kaepernick got a few plays early on. I believe Jalen Hurts got a few plays early on as a situational QB, when Carson Wentz was the starter. I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility this season, especially if the redzone issues continue. Knowing Jerry he’s going to try and get Lance on the field at some point even if it’s for one play. He did it with Drew Henson, with Parcells giving him a half. He wants that trade to pay dividends as soon as possible.

Really?

Dak sucks.

The fans are turning on Dak week by week and it will only get worse as the season goes and Dak plays bad and we lose.

Lance is the new guy that is the former top 5 pick that is still pretty much unknown.

I think it's obvious.

Really? You actually believe that and put it in writing?

I don’t see why installing a package for Lance would be a bad thing.

If nothing else it gives opponents something else to prepare for.

I’m not sure how realistic that is at this point in the season. They would also need to not declare him the emergency third QB and dress one less ST player.
