I'll never understand why Trey Lance is in any conversation when it comes to playing this year.
I’ll never understand why an interview of ”Giggles” Jones is ever considered serious.

This is the same guy who has given us “Secret Sauce” quotes, tells us annually who we can’t afford to sign before signing them, tells us the Cowboys “won’t set the market with any player” right before they set the market. And this same guy is talking about a “red zone package” with Trey Lance…and we’re supposed to take him seriously?

Other teams do things like this all the time. But suggest it here and you're a hater or worse, an ignorant, Dak hating hater. Why can't a gadget play be suggested without all the acrimony?

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones was asked on
@1053thefan
about a potential red zone package later in the season for Trey Lance (utilizing his running ability): “Well, we feel great about Dak. Dak is all raring and ready if we want to turn him loose. But this is a long season. He would be up for it, but he also knows the best way we can win football games is Dak playing quarterback for the Cowboys.”

if we run the same plays that we ran against az and jets, lance would have trouble running it. the defense is not spread and forced to defend different areas of the zone. they are often bunched up, because our players are bunched up.

Really?

Dak sucks.

The fans are turning on Dak week by week and it will only get worse as the season goes and Dak plays bad and we lose.

Lance is the new guy that is the former top 5 pick that is still pretty much unknown.

I think it's obvious.
Like your 8 win prediction last year.

At this point I struggle to see how anyone can not put the RZ struggles on coaching and scheme. The Cowboys were top 3 in the RZ for the past 3 years but now with the exact same players they used to be number 1 last year are 27th this year.

You could argue Zeke and Schultz were big losses in the red zone. Should we have dropped all the way to 27th probably not but there were going to be growing issues.

Pure desperation for hope, even it’s misguided. I think last week was so discouraging that any hope of not being the same old Cowboys puts Lance in the conversation for this year. I have high long term hopes for Lance but if he’s on the field this season then it’s a mistake.

I’d like to see him play in the xfl to be honest. He needs game reps. I don’t want him getting reps this year cuz that would mean the season has completely tanked. I’ve been saying he should play if we get mathematically eliminated but even then I am starting to think he shouldn’t. When we play him it needs to be a confidence building/learning experience and I don’t think he’ll even be ready for that till next season. JMO on the matter, obviously the coaches see his progress at practice so they know what they’re doing. I’d be a lot more comfortable with McCarthy answering this question instead of DNA boy.

My reply wasn't suggesting he play in lieu of Dak. New Orleans used Hill for sneak plays and other trickery while SB winning Drews was still running the team. Made sense when they did it, right?

The unknown toy. Yet SF, who was desperate for a Qb to pay 3 1st for, in an offense that might be the most QB friendly, cut him…..

I reviewed all of his NFL snaps. He could take snaps at RB. I remember a play where he ran over an NFL Safety...Marion Barber style.

Not realistic at this point for the Cowboys to use him at any position, but he has impressive physical ability.
