Stephen Jones on @1053thefan when asked if the #Cowboys would ever consider selling minority stakes in the team: "We wouldn't rule it out, but we'd also be very particular in who we would bring in as a partner in terms of that. But yes, it was designed when we passed that rule that you could have private equity involved in the NFL, and you could have minority partners. It made sense for a lot of different reasons. Every owner who chooses to go that path can speak for themselves in terms of why they're doing it, but I think it's a great tool. I think it makes the league stronger, personally. Certainly it's not something we would ever totally rule out, but I wouldn't say anything is on the front burner either."

gotta admit this makes me curious
now doofus Jr says a lot of dumb stuff bit I doubt this is just blather

The Joneses really do make my brain hurt.

I’ve been saying for a while they’ll eventually need to do this in order to stay competitive.

The cowboys don’t like to dip into team/personal funds to spend over the offseason. I’m sure most owners don’t but eventually you’ve got to either foot the bill or bring someone on who will.

We talked about this same thing last season.
Im genuinely interested in what prompted that specific question.

Guys, private equity in sports sucks. They will do the very thing we all accuse Jerry and Stephen of and that’s look at the team only as a business.

New ownership? That would be great but if they sold the team to private equity or gave majority stake to private equity it would be horrible

Hey Reid1boys.. would you ever consider sleeping with Halle Berry? Well, it isnt something that I am considering right at this moment, but I would never 100% rule anything out.

“We’d be very careful”

Let me rephrase that

“We would allow a small, non-voting, silent partner that is willing to give us a bag stuffed with a few billion dollars”
Other teams have done this. A small part of ownership but no rights to be involved with decisions.
Unless asked..
Basically it is an investment.

I had people at various times to get involved in a business. None of them were scams. But none of them truly benefited me either in a way I would have liked. It was basically to benefit them with a job but also be part owner. On my dime.

One would have been very good. But he changed the terms later.
At first it was a good deal. But I just bought another business. For which others wanted me to bring them in as a partner. I declined.
So I put that guys offer off for a while. Then he changed from being 25% partner, involved with decisions. To just loan him money for a year.
I promptly said no thanks.
