Talked to a die hard Aggie (older gentleman around 60) at the gym. I've seen him throughout the years there and he always had his Aggie shirt on. Never talked to him before, but I struck up a conversation with him. He told me he use to recruit for the team back in the day.

Anyways, I asked him what his thoughts were of Stephen McGee and he told me that Stephen had a bad off season. Said something about him holding the ball too high. He wasn't very high on McGee. I'm sure he's not going to diss his own aggie, he was telling me how it was with Stephen.

He told me about an Aggie football coaches convention in Dallas on Friday. Asked me to come, but I told him I'm more into the Cowboys. Then before he left the gym, he came by to offer me 12th man tickets to the home games. Very nice guy.

I think I've said before that if McGee doesn't show something during TC and preseason that we likely won't keep a roster spot for him.

Why would you think this guy is credible in the first place?

He's an Aggie....

Crayton could be the #3.

Answered your own question right there.

Saw 'em off!

he hasn't thrown but two passes in his NFL career and didn't exactly play at a college powerhouse.

other than that, great idea!

One time at work I rented to a scout that worked for the bears and his father's brother's uncle's former roommate was a scout for the Bengals. Well that guy's cousin's brother's aunt's stepson is actually a janitor at Valley Ranch.

Long story short, he said the Cowboys were in deep trouble from within.

Then we won the East and our first playoff game in 13 years.

I suppose this Aggie guy of your was at offseason workouts with the Cowboys, or speaking to Wade Wilson and Jason Garrett about the progress of McGee.

Sorry...but:

They knew when they picked him that he was raw. He's working on his release this offseason according to the latest reports.

Which is why Kitna is the backup. Dallas has a luxury with McGee in that we are not looking to make him a starting QB anytime soon. Hopefully McGee can start showing enough to earn the #2 spot but at least for this season I fully expect to see Kitna working at backup and just hope to see McGee show some promise this pre season.

But he did start in college his senior year, which is more than McGee can say.

That's what I was wondering. How does this guy know this? I don't see how sharing an alma mater gives you access to that information.

Agreed. McGee is the emergency QB. I realize they do rarely get snaps but that's not something that is planned for. McGee merely needs to progress this year.

I do think we should be looking to draft QBs. Which means we should be scouting them.

McGee is never going to get much of a chance in Dallas with Romo at the top of his game. Romo is only 30 and the addition of Dez Bryant is only going to make him better. McGee's only chance to get on the field is in a wildcat formation or if Romo gets injured and Kitna starts reminding everyone of Brad Johnson. I would like to see McGee makes some plays if an opportunity does arise so he could be used as trade bait in a couple of years.

But . . . but all of Stephen's advisers told him he was the prototypical NFL quarterback. And he's an Aggie. How could he have an off offseason?

Thanks for the info, but truthfully...for every one of these guys...you can find one who thinks McGee could become the next Roger Staubach.

:)

That would be incorrect he was the starter his Senior year and then suffered an injury early and it was Johnson that took over after that. So he actually held of Johnson was named the starter by Sherman and was until injury but do not let the facts get in the way of your rant.

InmanRoshi hates A&M plain and simple. Every chance he gets he takes shots. Not going to college hurts, huh???:laugh2:

Thats not true as fyi. IIRC he lost his job after he was injured, and the A&M staff decided to stick with the kid who replaced him to get him ready for the upcoming season. They knew McGee was gone after the season and they werent a good football team.
