Stephen McGee

99.9% of Cowboys fans who have an opinion on Stephen have not seen throw a football since Week 4 of Preseason last year (if that)..

Calling him a bust or say he will be released without hearing it from a source within the Cowboys is ridiculous.

I've said it before..I dont think McGee will do much of anything. I'm all for letting the guy develop but when He was out there He played horrible.

It's a bit early to come to any final conclusions after a known project's rookie year.

Imagine if we gave up on Romo after 2003.

Romo didnt see the field for three years, and there are people who are ready to cut McGee already. Sorry I dont follow their logic.

Which is why Kitna is the backup. Dallas has a luxury with McGee in that we are not looking to make him a starting QB anytime soon. Hopefully McGee can start showing enough to earn the #2 spot but at least for this season I fully expect to see Kitna working at backup and just hope to see McGee show some promise this pre season.

So the Cowboys team is like a scout training camp for overhyped Aggies?

Speaking of the Aggies, they are the most consistently bad team in the history of Texas. Well, at least Rice has the brains.
Aggies are overhyped too. Just a big school with big pretensions and flops for athletic teams.

In the history? Maybe recent history. Before that it was probably SMU after they got the death penalty.

When did he ever play "horrible"? He was a raw rookie QB who played very little.

Not sure what to make of the initial post, but I've never been high on McGee. I'd be pretty stunned if this guy ever developed into a quality backup for us.

Lets see Jenkins was a bust and should be cut I heard that too way to early to jump to anything I expect it will be year 3 that he has to show the next step or he will be cut or gone.

Hell we gave Drew Henson and Chutch longer than McGee before cutting them :bang2::bang2:

No we are an NFL team working with a young inexperianced QB who has some talent to see if he can become an NFL QB. As for the school I don't care if it is Texas A&M or Eastern Illinois.

That was terrible and I always try to remember stuff like that when discussing on this message board.

Jenkins had a couple of flops his Rookie year but what Rookie corner doesn't?

He also turned it up at the end of his rookie year and played well (for a rook) when he had to. But 70% of CZ was screaming bust.

How many were upset we didn't take Merriman over Ware?

The list goes on and on.

We will only rue 2 things... Letting Matt Moore walk (dumb) and not signing the big guy Jared Gaither :).

The offensive line played horrible when he was out there. He was scrambling as soon as he completed his drop back most times.

He looked like a rookie to me. Not surprising. I have not seen enough to determine if he will improve or not.

Exactly. He didn't make a throw without having to scramble. Part of it was rookie jitters and the other part was the bad play of the oline.

He did have us in the redzone and we were about to score when he hurt his knee.

Judging from recent history, Eastern Illinois has the edge.

Maybe so. For me I don't care where a kid went to College here in Texas or some where else does not phase me one bit. As for McGee he is considered a young QB with some raw talent and we are a team that has a quality starting QB in place and a vet backup and the time to work with a young raw QB. Anyone claiming to know if McGee will develop or not is only making a blind guess.

Thats not true as fyi. IIRC he lost his job after he was injured, and the A&M staff decided to stick with the kid who replaced him to get him ready for the upcoming season. They knew McGee was gone after the season and they werent a good football team.

Translation:

It's not true to say McGee didn't start his senior year.... (long explaination about how McGee didn't start his senior year)

InmanRoshi hates A&M plain and simple. Every chance he gets he takes shots. Not going to college hurts, huh???:laugh2:

When they start putting out good football players, I'll be less critical.

Unfortunately, I've watched Stephen McGee and Martellus Bennett play extensively in college, so I'll pass on that Kool Aid. Pretty much everything I've said about Bennett has come to fruition, and unfortunately I feel the same thing is going to happen to McGee.

So you predicted Bennett would be a heck of a blocking TE in only his second season?
