Stephen McGee

So you predicted Bennett would be a heck of a blocking TE in only his second season?

So great as a blocker that he was losing snaps to an undrafted free agent rookie by the end of the year. Is that what makes him great?

Oh, he's "great" because you swallowed the company line.

No he didn't. He had an injury, Phillips got most of his other snaps at Hback not TE.

Bennett had a slight concussion, was inactive for one week, and he was was cleared to play soon after ... Phillips did such a good job filling in they decided to keep him in instead.

Yes, the 2nd TE is generally called the "H-Back". That's the position the Cowboys envisioned for Bennett to compliment Witten when they drafted him, before they found out he was too stupid/lazy to learn all the formations required of the position.

No, Bennett has discussed this and said that Phillips is the H-back in the offense. He is not.

Witten is used more as an H-back when he and Bennett are on the field at the same time.

Translation:

It's not true to say McGee didn't start his senior year.... (long explaination about how McGee didn't start his senior year)

MCgee started the first three games then got injured then they had to go with Johnson by the time he could play A&M decided they might as well stay with Johnson at that point since McGee was a senior and the team sucked.

So Once again you are talking at your arse this is not the NFL and in fact sometimes in the NFL guys don't get their job back after being injured see Drew Bledsoe as an example

So I guess the Aggie was correct in his evaluation.

To the "Tony Romo sucked his second year too" folks

In one preseason game Tony's second year, he was 12-14, 141 yards with no INTs and 1 TD in beating Kansas City 24-20. This was 2004.

I'm just looking for McGee not to checkdown. He has one of the lowest yards-per-completion of QBs that I can see on nfl.com this preseason. (Or is it yards-per-attempt .. I can't remember)

What if guys aren't open down field? Is he supposed to force a throw to someone who is covered or check down?

Even Nichols had some nice downfield passes against the Raiders (8-14, 72 yards - 2 INTs the M Johnson bobble and a Hail Mary) playing against the same scrubs McGee did (McGee was 2-7 for 11 yards in that game).

Maybe McGee should watch some film of Nichols.
