I think we saw some progression tonight.

He had a live arm, made good decisions, and showed some mobility.

He also made some very accurate throws too.

Not to mention the guy looks tough. He can take some punishment.

I think for a 2nd year guy he is right on schedule to develop into something.

Hopefully at some point this pre-season we see him playing a little faster and being a little more aggresive downfield.

One thing that really stands out about him. Although he only showcased on his 1st snap. Is that he has very good and quick feet.

I like to see them protect him. Our 3rd team guys are as bad as you can get.

I thought McGee looked pretty good, especially with the heat he was under. He didn't have much time, and that one guy took a real cheap shot at him. That really made me mad. That kind of stuff is bush league. I'd be looking for some payback.

He's definitely improved.

I want to see more of Matt Nichols though.

He got rolled up from behind once and it looked absolutely brutal but he just jumped right back up.

He looked like a player that can develop into something but like any young QB he looks a little shaky against the blitz. Nothing terrible though.

Also I was loving the back shoulder passes from Romo and Kitna.

Roy also looked about 6'10 when he made that catch over the middle. I thought that was nice.

He made a few decent throws. He did have time to throw at times and doesn’t pull the trigger. As soon as he feels any pressure then runs right and throws the ball away. It is still early, but i would like to see him throw some passes down the field. I don’t see anything special about him.

I would like to see more of Matt Nichols. That play where he dropped the ball, picked it up and threw it was very Romoish.

Wow I think the guy offers a lot of physical ability.

I was impressed with him. Especially when you consider the College system he came from and his injury last year in the pre-season.

He looked good under center too which takes some of these spread option QB's a long time to get used too.

A lot to like there IMO. Is he perfect? Heck no. But everything I saw tonight that looked bad just comes with more experience.

I saw a legend in the making.

50% against not all their first team, as is usually the case in preseason. :)
He makes me yearn for Colt McCoy.

I was really impressed. I think he has a future.

Would like to see him get some snaps with better guys in there too.

Well, it is just the first preseason game. Those are my impressions. I still don’t see anything that can develop into something special. Like a Romo in hiding. I think i saw more in Nichols on that one play then i did with McGee the whole game. McGee looks scared to me. He does the same things in camp when i saw him. We shall see.

I thought Mcgee looked good tonight. He made some good throws and showed a little mobility also. My favorite play of all was when he had the presence of mind to bat down the tipped pass right before the defender got his mitts on it. Smarts go a LONG way...and he showed me a lot right there.

Put it this way, I thought he played better than Kitna...and better than both O'Sullivan and Jordan Palmer as well. He didn't throw any INT's and made very few mental mistakes...with one late checkdown being an obvious exception.

I think he's a keeper, but we have four more games to evalute him and learn more.

Maybe I'm missing something here but I really don't get the constant threads and discussions about our 3rd string QB. We HAVE one of the best franchise QBs in the league and he's only 30. Who cares how McGee is doing? I don't see these threads about backup QBs on any other team's forums that have a QB. There aren't even as many Teebow threads on the Broncos forum as we have McGee discussions.

Romo threw, what, 10 passes? One series, anyway. There's only so much to talk about regarding the first string players. It's not an indictment on Romo, just that the pre-season is all about evaluating your backups.

Because people are nervous about what would happen if Romo went down with an injury...like what happened two seasons ago. Kitna doesn't look like he can be a long term answer if it came down to it, so I think many of us are anxious to see if McGee has the potential to step up if need be.

What would one rather have us discuss? Like you said, this is what the pre-season is all about.

Yeah I am. Go on the Saints, Colts, Chargers, and Packers forum. There's never have backup QB discussions and here McGee is talked about to death. There's no shortage of constant articles on the guy also. You'd think he's an all time Cowboy great with how much he's discussed. :laugh2:
