I was reading an article in local newspaper this morning on Cowboys are among NFL teams looking to end title drought.

The nut of the story was do any of these teams have a QB which can take them there.

Stephen was very outspoken. Even saying a great QB is how you win in this league. And said if Prescott isn’t the best, he’s one of the best and ultimate leader.

And have to continue trying to put the pieces around him adding I know our fans aren’t going to believe until we get the job done.

Of course we don’t believe. Few Cowboy fans believe Prescott is the best or one of the best QB’s in the league. Is he enough to build around, maybe .Doubtful at this point. But who believes our FO and coaching staff can get that done.

The fact are ownership believe he’s one of the best is a core issue for us. And keep expecting him to carry us.

He just isn’t the best or one of the best in the league. Dont know many fans who would argue that.

But it certainly explains why we are paying him, the type of team we have built around him and the continued lack of success.

I doubt he really believes that at this point. After the contract they gave him just months ago they really can't say anything else at this point. They are married to Dak at minimum through the 2025 season, and likely 2026.

The reality is Dak has had a very good NFL career, and has had a couple of seasons where he has been a tier 2 and borderline tier 1 QB. The flip side of that is he doesnt project as a guy who will age well in this league getting into his 30s, I think we saw some of that last year (even if we want to point to scheme, supporting cast, etc. the actual film on Dak wasn't pretty), and now he is coming off a pretty serious leg injury.

They brough in Schottenheimer because he is the ultimate Dak friendly guy. He is familiar with Dak he, he like to run the football, and his OC pick supports what he has said publicly about offensive balance. I'm still very skeptical on this team for 2025, largely because I struggle to see Dak rebounding without serious spending this offseason by the Cowboys, but they are right at least in their philosophy Schotty brings even if we mostly dont love the hire.

If/when they restructure his deal is when we'll know how much they actually believe in him.

It's when they don't restructure their big deals is when, IMO, they no longer love the core player or want them to show again they are worth keeping around.

Wait until his next season ending injury or an injury causes him to mss significant time.
Then what will they say. Excuses that we never seen how great he really was, because of those injuries.

They are always trying to spin something over on the fans. Well, maybe not always. But when it comes to team building, and FA (or lack of it) they are spinning it to the fans.

At this point I have very little doubt that Prescott will be here for 13 years without reaching an NFCCG.

That’s not a slight to him as much as an indictment of the FO for not recognizing what he is and isn’t, and like many other situations, they misevaluate due to rose color glasses and/or believing that they can talk things into existence.

The argument has changed for most fans now.
It used to be, “is Dak a top 10 QB”

Then, for one season, it moved to
“is Dak a top 5 qb”.

Now, because of the lack of significant wins, and his being prone to injuries, it’s “is Dak a top 15 qb”

My complete faith and hope in him is gone. I can actually sit down and argue that he might be in the bottom 8 guys in the league, and that some teams have better backups. It’s a sad reality.

Well of course the 2nd in command is going to back his father's contract mistake publicly.

The real scary part is IF both he and dad genuinely see Prescott this way.

Because that's how they've gotten to where they are now with the current roster building issues.

A few "good" years are still to come, lol
Cowboys!

Bold> Well. Dak Prescott would not be the first time they have demonstrated or voiced 100% support for their starting quarterback.

Unless injured, his statistics do show up. I'd support my player also ... or really lose your team.

You implying he is a wimp coward?

What else is this guy going to say? He just got through making Dak Prescott the highest paid player in the league. It's like a person who overpays for a product, do you think they are going to claim that they overpaid or are they going to keep claiming that they purchased the best?
