Stephen thinks Prescott is one of the best QB's

Qak is at his best when he has a solid running game to lean on.

If we can clone Barkley, the Oline, and the Dline Philly has, we can win with him.

and Dak doesn't get the 70 plus ground yards or drop those couple of dimes Hurts did against that Chiefs dee.
And especially doing it with absolutely zero run support from Barkley.
Dak still loses that game.

Actually was not implying anything.

Just saying with his record of injuries ever since he broke his ankle has not been good.
But yet we keep hearing how great he is. How do we really know, if he is in the whirlpool half the season.

Same goes for DLaw. They tell us how great he is, but he too spends more than half his time on IR.

Yet they give Dak another huge contract, and talk like they want to keep DLaw.

these are all sound bites for the various outlets in the area, and marketing of the team.

Gotta resort to maintaining that public image that in no way was their contract a mistake by continuing to market the failed product that is Dak Prescott.

Always positively promoting the brand while saving face at all costs.
Even when it's painfully obvious how flawed the product is.

Not sure if that is always the main motivation for them. Jerry Jones drafted Quincy Carter. Then waived his PT Barnum advertised mentor, Tony Banks, before his rookie season began.

It is hard for some to stop-and-consider one thing. The Joneses believe they are qualified football evaluators. Their confidence in players to perform well may be much MUCH more than some think.

Just another indication that Stephen is not quality GM material.
Just happens to be Jerry's son.
Otherwise, he would never get near a front office job in the NFL.
Nepotism, it's just another fatal flaw in this franchise.

Just last season Parsons and Lawrence were a top level rated duo at defensive end. Oh he is still is a value player.

Stephen still follows team directions.

Prescott when not injured, still produces a strong game.

Any discussion on team still involves factors...even if not yours. Topic development is the discussive element.

At his age, all QB's are protected more.

You definitely have a point.
But in this case Jerry has tied in how much money he is paying Dak on this contract as proof as to how Dak is to perform. Some strange IF I just pay him more he will certainly play better type insanity.
He has on a few occasions recently referred to this highest paid contract as his reasoning for his belief to be true publicly.
Another of many Jerry being Jerry mis evaluations of personnel.

The other thread in here regarding Jerry's approach to free agency further illustrates this recent version of Jerry's flawed thinking.

When Jerry speaks, I tend to half-heartedly tune in for entertainment purposes (example: him going off on radio hosts or publicly expressing that he doesn't know who Chris Godwin is the week before a playoff game at Tampa).

When Stephen speaks, he doesn't even get a millisecond of my attention.

A true no talent success story if there ever was one.

One game. Hurts had a great game, like Nick Foles. But Hurts is not a great QB. In fact, he is the weak link on that team. Give Dak or any QB a stacked team and they will perform better.

Jones is a good or better businessperson first and an average-to-poor football evaluator second. He was faced with two courses of action, either:

a) pay what he judged as the market rate for Dak Prescott's services, thus assuring he retained a quarterback he believes can help him win a championship or​
b) take the uncertain road and hope Trey Lance would develop into the successor he thinks he could become.​

Eventually, Jones did what he has always done. I mean what he has done since before he purchased the franchise. He went with his gut. As always, he gambles that he knows more about football and how to win than most people.

Jones would not have invested as much as he did IF he had the final say. Unfortunately, all contractual agreements are two-sided and he agreed with Prescott's negotiated demands.

He would likely say the exact same thing if it was an oil drilling decision, like, "I paid a pretty penny for this oil rig. It had better strike liquid gold for the amount of money I sunk into it."

Investment first. Rationalization second.

The question isn't whether Hurts is a great QB or not. Our fundamental difference of opinion lies in Dak ever defeating 4 consecutive playoff opponents "regardless" of coaching(now on his 5th playcaller) OR personnel support.

So I think he couldn't even get the team to the trophy game in the first place regardless of roster.
You see it differently.

For either him or Stephen to see themselves as actual talent evaluators is the first flaw.
And then as you accurately described as the 2 paths between paying Dak or a 4th rd Lance investment as the only QB solution paths going forward was limited thinking at best.

Going the drafted QB with pedigree or signing a viable FA QB as good as or better than Dak should have been on the table as well as last year's season opener approached. But then the witching hour 240 million dollar mistake happened. And here they are.

And finally here your investment first rationalization second explanation further summarizes the depths of the organizational mindset of its leaders and the future outcomes we should expect.
