Stephen thinks Prescott is one of the best QB's

I doubt he really believes that at this point. After the contract they gave him just months ago they really can't say anything else at this point. They are married to Dak at minimum through the 2025 season, and likely 2026.

The reality is Dak has had a very good NFL career, and has had a couple of seasons where he has been a tier 2 and borderline tier 1 QB. The flip side of that is he doesnt project as a guy who will age well in this league getting into his 30s, I think we saw some of that last year (even if we want to point to scheme, supporting cast, etc. the actual film on Dak wasn't pretty), and now he is coming off a pretty serious leg injury.

They brough in Schottenheimer because he is the ultimate Dak friendly guy. He is familiar with Dak he, he like to run the football, and his OC pick supports what he has said publicly about offensive balance. I'm still very skeptical on this team for 2025, largely because I struggle to see Dak rebounding without serious spending this offseason by the Cowboys, but they are right at least in their philosophy Schotty brings even if we mostly dont love the hire.

This.

They’ve locked this organization in.

Assuming all injury risk for a player who looks to be breaking down and declining.

It sure looked to me like once this ridiculous deal was made, the rest of the league slammed in the breaks, not wanting to make the next huge mistake.

Jerry and Stephen made a monumental mistake and this team will be paying the price for the next several years.

Everyone involved with this team will suffer as a result.

Except the two guys that did it of course. They have no accountability.

The great news is that the 60 million dollar a year contract WON'T have anything to do with our ability to sign the best free agents....I've read that here MANY times.

And the " no trade" clause further enhances the teams options.

Ima send a copy of "The Art of the Deal" to Jerry for Kwanza this year.

I was reading an article in local newspaper this morning on Cowboys are among NFL teams looking to end title drought.

The nut of the story was do any of these teams have a QB which can take them there.

Stephen was very outspoken. Even saying a great QB is how you win in this league. And said if Prescott isn’t the best, he’s one of the best and ultimate leader.

And have to continue trying to put the pieces around him adding I know our fans aren’t going to believe until we get the job done.

Of course we don’t believe. Few Cowboy fans believe Prescott is the best or one of the best QB’s in the league. Is he enough to build around, maybe .Doubtful at this point. But who believes our FO and coaching staff can get that done.
He is not a great leader anymore.

Now he is the ULTIMATE leader.

This is what happens when you are runnning out of superlatives because you have essentially nothing positive to say about a player: You embarrass yourself.

HERE WE GO!!!

And comments like this is exactly why this franchise is screwed.

The owner/son have no freaking clue on NFL personnel.

Someone shoot me. I can’t take this anymore,

See…. I told you Stephen ain’t gonna be any better for this team when his dad retires!!!
:banghead:

If they have a normal sized dick and character i expect them to do so. Yes.

But if you have no kind of personality you will act like he did.
Do Jerry and Stephen strike you as the modest guy or do they strike you as the type to tell you that it's the size of a baby's arm and breaths fire on command?

One game. Hurts had a great game, like Nick Foles. But Hurts is not a great QB. In fact, he is the weak link on that team. Give Dak or any QB a stacked team and they will perform better.
Lol "one game" acting like it's not the Super Bowl or anything.

Over the last four seasons, eight teams have a winning percentage of 60% or greater (including playoffs). Here are those teams:

TEAMWINNING PERCENTAGE
Kansas City Chiefs78%
Philadelphia Eagles70%
Buffalo Bills70%
Baltimore Ravens62%
Dallas Cowboys61%
San Francisco 49ers61%
Cincinnati Bengals61%
Minnesota Vikings60%

Lol "one game" acting like it's not the Super Bowl or anything.
The Super Bowl is still 1 game and Hurts had a great game under a big spotlight which makes him what? Great? I have no problem with anyone hyping up all the Eagles players. Every single guy on that team is the best whoever played the game, especially when their contracts are up! They won the Super Bowl. They demolished KC and Mahomes as if there is ever a Super Bowl where nobody won.

The question isn't whether Hurts is a great QB or not. Our fundamental difference of opinion lies in Dak ever defeating 4 consecutive playoff opponents "regardless" of coaching(now on his 5th playcaller) OR personnel support.

So I think he couldn't even get the team to the trophy game in the first place regardless of roster.
You see it differently.
No worries.
I am posting according to the original post that stated Stephen said "a great QB is how you win in this league." I was simply arguing he is wrong because Mahomes is a great QB. Hurts is not. Yet, the Eagles demolished the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Agreeing with Stephen means you think we can pay a QB tons of money and then maybe 1 or two other players and that makes us contenders. That is what Stephen is arguing I would argue, and I am arguing, you win by having the better roster. The Eagles defense stifled the Chiefs and Mahomes the entire game. That had nothing to do with Hurts. I am not saying the QB does not matter or he is not important. What I am saying is it takes more than a great QB to win a Super Bowl, AND that Hurts is not a great QB.

The fact are ownership believe he’s one of the best is a core issue for us. And keep expecting him to carry us.

He just isn’t the best or one of the best in the league. Dont know many fans who would argue that.

But it certainly explains why we are paying him, the type of team we have built around him and the continued lack of success.
They only say he's "one of the best" IF he's not "THE best"... which means in their heads, being THE best QB in the league (better than Mahomes, better than Josh Allen, better than Burrow, better than (insert name of 15 QBs that are also better than him) is actually a statement that could be real.

The people in charge of EVERYTHING... every decision...every every thing....looks at Dak Friggin Prescot, and thinks..."DUUUHHHHHHHH I THINK HE COULD BE BETTER THAN MAHOMES"

if you wanna know why we suck....there's your answer.

When you have what COULD be the best QB in the league....don't need to put an All star team on the field, just need to keep extending the QB for longer and longer, and make him the highest paid player in the league!!!!!

Anyone expect him to say anything different? He can't say anything else. Pretty simple.

we also see that the Cowboys fall in line with how these other teams are distributing their money. It’s the Eagles who are the excursion. They are clearly dancing to the beat of their own drum. The Cowboys' spending looks very similar to that of the Kansas City Chiefs, who many would say is the real team others should try to copy. Not only that but borrowing from future cap resources doesn’t automatically equal success.

Above average NFL career.

Very good career would include very good playoff record. Not great...but...very good.

Dak has very good September stats. Very good garbage time stats. But Dak has below average playoff record. You average all that out, and it's just kind of a boring "good" that a million other QBs have experienced

I just have no time for this kind of rationale today. Yes, you're 100% right. Great job.

Difference is KC has actually spent slightly more on their roster, but since 2020 they have spent $165M on Mahomes. The Cowboys have spent $243M on Dak in that same time period.
