yawn.....no more kool-aid for me. They don't have the personell capable to run this defense especially at LB + zero pass rush = worse than last few years!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I agree with him. I just watched the Lions get smoked by bomb after bomb from Josh Allen. That was the Dallas defense last year. They couldn't stop anyone from scoring at will. The Giants did hold onto the football, but they were slow and methodical. Kudos to their efficiency,. The defense made a couple stops early, but the offense stalled, and slowly the Giants running game wore them down. Not ideal, but not catastrophic.

They allowed 28 points and had some really bad luck with funny bounces. They kept the plays in front of them. The safeties did some great work against the run. Limebackers still nerd alot of work. The corners didn't get roasted, but there were several lapses in coverage. Bad communication. Several new starters and a new DC in a buzz saw Giants stadium following 9/11 remembrance and festivities. It sucked. They need to figure it out. If the problem is communication, that can be corrected. If there's a knowledge gap in the system, it seems the coaches and players are smart enough to figure it out. If they can't, or if there's still a talent deficiency, it's going to be a long season. I'm leaning towards miscommunication and confusion, but we'll see.

Maybe we should just have a 4 man base Dline…..maybe we don’t have the personnel for a good 3-4. Hell, have the starting 4 down lineman be Gary-Clark-Tito-Q on the end and let him abuse a tackle with his quickness….something….big bodies across that line so we don’t get whipped like last week. Then sign Wagner to play MLB. That’s a wild lineup, but man, I’m worried this is going to continue and we just won’t run this D that well.

BTW.....keep in mind, CP is learning a lot about himself as a DC and a different type of leader.

* How effective will your system be w/o all the right players
Even CP mentioned he wanted them playing fast, not worrying about mistakes. That's easier said than done. This is why I think maybe CP should break his scheme down to 20-25% until ALL players master the basics. This will allow players to understand the concept of plays w/o too much thinking. Then gradually add more as the season progresses. Hell, it's probably NOT all players struggling to learn the new scheme but enough to impact the entire defense.

The reality is this was probably not the right time to introduce a new first time coordinator, new defensive coaching staff, new scheme, 8 new starters (many of whom are young), no preseason snaps...with an owner who is 80+ years old...a 60m QB...2 highly paid WRs, and a highly paid RB. The window to win was the next 2 years...and I think that will be spent just building the franchise BACK to where Mike McCarthy had straight 3 straight 13 - 3 season!

I agree but what other options are there, especially w/o time or players to fix it long-term?
The best case now is to break it down .........I would rather 11 players play free and fast than 7-8 players and 3-4 players confused or don't fit the scheme.

Thanks for the correction...but you play who is on your schedule...and 3 straight seasons of 12-5 means we were doing something right ..and I think the move to Schotty set us back. Not saying it wasn't time for change...but saying Schotty is not the answer
