Steve Smith doesn't like TMac

Depends on the board, but in an almost worst case scenario I don’t have a problem with “settling” for Tet at 12.
But I do agree with a lot of what Smith said. He’s definitely not a complete WR with high level route running ability to be a go-to #1 WR…at the moment

Gun to my head I would guess Tet turns into the 2018-2022 version of Mike Williams. Big play WR that can give you around 1000 yards and 10 TD’s, but never a #1 that gives you close to 100 catches.

I love T Mac, but Smith's opinion isnt something to be disregarded
I like T Mac.

But he worries me. Limited route tree, not great with separation. In college, he was bigger, stronger and faster than everybody else.

Reminds me a bit of Quintin Johnston type. Don’t see the domination in the Nfl

Liking Egbuka a lot more lately. I know he doesn't have any 'elite' traits but he's a winner, leader, and super valuable and movable player as a second WR. I know hat's not what you look for at 12--but it is a weak draft...
Egbuka is much more complete right now. His tree, his fluidity, and leaves nothing on the field. He's the better player but in 2 years , Tet might be the best prospect.

If Tet is gone and will they want a WR in the first. He would be my choice

I see why fans might not like it. We're not drafting a guy to be #1. But that's the case with all these receivers. Why not get the one least likely to bust?

People butthurt because Smith doesn't like their guy lol.as if every single expert hits everytime. Cute

I wouldn't pass on him if he is there at 12. We need an X receiver and he will fill that role nicely.

I’m not so impressed with Tetairoa McMillan that I would take him at 12. In my non-expert opinion, taking him at 12 would be a reach. If we traded down to later in round one, maybe.

I saw him play three times at Arizona and while he’s clearly got lots of NFL talent, he also has a tendency to disappear in games and can struggle a little in press coverage. He has great size, decent speed, good hands and huge catch radius.

But the thing about McMillan is he is essentially a possession receiver, not a deep threat. Which is not a bad thing in and of itself, but IMO the Cowboys need a WR that can threaten defenses in a way we don’t currently have.

Here is a very detailed scouting report on McMillan after the combine:

The way he attacks 50/50 balls makes him a deep threat in my opinion.

Trying to turn Tolbert into a possession WR hasn't worked out so well and they need a big body WR that they can rely on.

I like this guy, just not at 12. To me it’s a big reach.

In a deep WR draft, McMillan wouldn’t be seen as the 12th pick. This year’s WR draft is not that strong and although he’s clearly a very good receiver, reaching in the first round is always dangerous.

Not a knock on Tetairoa McMillan. But the Cowboys needs are way deeper than a WR. If we reach at 12 for a position we could fill the need later in the draft, you end up chasing instead of drafting the best talent available.

Just my opinion.

Be careful when listening to these former NFL players trying to be draft evaluators. Smith loved Mingo and MJD just had a list indicating Hampton was tier 3.

Just b/c you were a good player doesn’t mean you’re automatically a good evaluator.

Trade back add a top 100 pick and draft Egbuka. He could be the Zack Martin of this draft.
