This is hilarious... When Keyshawn was in Dallas, he was a #2 to the media. Now he is part of the most explosive receiver tandem in the nfl?

And the Panthers only have like 6 more yards per game receiving than we do. And we have more receiving touchdowns in less games...

The only reason why Smith and Johnson have more yards and receptions is because Delhomme has had 50 more attempts (they haven't played their bye yet) than Bledsoe).

Between them they have 4 touchdowns, between T.O/T.G we have 7 touchdowns.

As time goes on, and I say this a lot... but expect to see our offense open up... especially in the first halves of games. Expect the offense to be molded more torwards Owens, Barber, and Witten. Maybe even Fasano to some extent. And expect Owens to be a more focal point of our gameplan.

I think both Bledsoe and Owens really need to step it up. And quickly. As does Flozell Adams.

We put up 34 points on the Texans... 31 of the points came in the second half...

Carolina wins by such slim margins that theyre forced to keep passing. That hasn't been the case with our victories. As you can see they're averaging 2/3rds the yards in the running game than we are.

Last season and for the games Smith has played this year, he has been the best receiver in football. He has played much better than T.O. I think T.O. has more talent because he is bigger, but Smith has really out performed every one. That is what makes the tandem dangerous. Key is just a complimentary player. He is a step up from their #2 from last season, but he is not special. Smith is just that good.

I think the Bengals, Cardinals, Colts, and Cowboys would rank ahead of the Panthers tandem. Smith is one of the best but Keyshawn can't hold up to the #2 guys in the cities above.

Part of the reason why they have a few more yards then other than the bye is that... Terry Glenn and Drew have really not connected for that DEEP pass consistantly AND TO's catches have been short and for TD's.... wait til we hit Glenn on a deep pass AND when TO does the YAC'r/RAC'r

:welcome:

Personally, it doesn't matter to me if they hang out after the games... However, I do think they get along fine. I've seen and posted several pics of them congratulating one another after a good play. I don't think it's an issue.

I have seen TO and TG and others congratulate each other even after a good catch or first down.... they are not all over each other... but I dont see what you see.

Keyshawn is a possession receiver. It's always good to have one. Smith is a big play fast receiver. It's always good to have one. Combined they are an incredible duo.

Smith > Glenn as a big play receiver by 3 miles.
TO > Smith as a big play receiver.
Keyshawn > TO and Glenn as a possession receiver. (though not much better than TO)

What duo is better? Who cares. That is a debatable question, but does it really matter? The one thing that is clear as TO and Glenn are a great duo!

Owens is just as good as Johnson as a pocession receiver... even better considering he'll draw the double team and leave someone else in single coverage.

I really think that TO and TG will shred the NYG secondary. If Bledsoe can get some time against a DL that has been underperforming thus far this season, I think everyone's going to see what our duo can do.

He doesn't draw double teams for being a possession receiver - that's an invalid point.

And frankly I don't think he is as good a possession receiver as Key - TO is much more prone to drop passes in his gut than Key.

Obviously TO is a much better overall receiver, but in the limited context of "possession receiver" Key is the better man.

He's still a #2 to the media - even when talking about "best duos" SOMEBODY has to be the #2. I don't really think anyone in the NFL truly has 2 #1's.

Wasn't the topic "best duos" rather than "most explosive duos"?

Carolina wins by such slim margins that theyre forced to keep passing. That hasn't been the case with our victories. As you can see they're averaging 2/3rds the yards in the running game than we are.

Smith also missed the first 2 games of the season with a hamstring injury, so their numbers are not as high as they probably would be had he been there for those games.

They also have a nice option with their 3rd receiver (yes, I know we're talking duos, here) that caught a TD pass against Dallas last time they played--Drew Carter. He is really improving, and is becoming a real threat in the 3rd WR slot.

Carolina's running game isn't what John Fox would like it to be, though. Foster will show flashes, but is not consistent. Losing DeAngelo Williams to an ankle injury does't help that. Not sure if he will be back for our game, or not, but I think we can shut down their running game, and force them to pass. With the slightest bit of pressure, Delhomme will put the ball up for grabs. It's just a matter of the defense being in the right place to take advantage of his mistakes.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was wondering how long this thread would go before something mentioned that major factor.
Still, as good as Smith is, when TO is on his game Smith isn't the player TO is.
And Key isn't the player TG is.

Let the press praise all others, that's fine by me, so long as they quit gossiping about T.O I don't mind if Dallas wins quietly so long as they win. Glenn and Owens will get the opportunity to try and upstage Smith and Johnson soon enough anyhow.
