He was a great musician. I was in a bar in Austin in the early 80's that they would never let you in now at that age. Shooting pool and this guy comes on stage and starts playing the guitar. I'm ashamed to admit that we only half paid attention.

I can relate. Apparently, I saw him in '82, when his brother's band (The Fabulous Thunderbirds) opened for Clapton. I was so wasted, I didn't even know until about 10 years ago, when one of my friends told me.
