Good for him

Tony Stewart will return to racing this weekend after missing the last three Sprint Cup events following the Aug. 9 accident where his sprint car struck and killed Kevin Ward Jr.

Stewart-Haas Racing announced Thursday that Stewart would return to the seat of the SHR No. 14 car at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where Sprint Cup practice and qualifying is set for Friday with the race scheduled for Sunday night. Stewart is scheduled to hold a press conference at the track at 1 p.m.

I saw his press conference. Unless he is as good an actor as Tom Hanks it was evident how sad he is over this.

I say press conference but he did not answer questions so it was sort of one sided.

It was wise to not answer any questions.

Can you imagine how he feels after the things that have been said about him? As he said, nowhere near as bad as the family and friends, but the accusations about Stewart have been ridiculous.

I'm curious because I know very little about NASCAR but what is Tony's rep as a driver?

Is he one of their bigger names? This story was such big news I have always just presumed he was one of their top guys.

He's one of the best drivers of all time. A multi time Cup Champ who can basically get into any car on any surface and be competitive against the best.

Thanks for answering. I wondered how good he was in his field. I see NASCAR guys on commercials but know nothing about the sport. Thanks again.

Did you guys hear any of his in-car audio? Stewart sounds mentally/emotionally beat.

He apologized for letting his team down over the radio after the tire blew. The tone of his voice was just sad. If I didn't know better I'd wonder if he really even wanted to be on the track yet. He was performing well until that point, though.
