Stock up:
1. Maurice Canady:
A couple of really nice plays against the run, he looked locked in and really impressed as an option maybe even as a starter.
2. Sean McKeon: Open on all four targets with two catches and two wild overthrows. Good yards after catch and looks like he can block too. Probably the most impressive guy for the night and someone we shouldn't sleep on.
3. Sewo Olonilua: I thought he looked good block and had a nice reception fighting for the first down. Could be a sneaky chance to be a surprise addition to the roster.
4. Malik Turner: I know he fumbled the play but made 4 good catches and taking out that fumble probably cements him on the team. He looked an asset.
5. Rookies in general: All of them made an impact in so form or another which was great to see

The rookies:
Parsons
had the fumble recovery and almost a huge play on the jet sweep, some tackles too.
Joseph looked the part in a couple of plays and made his tackles
Odigizuwa looked to get in the backfield and shut down the run
Wright was in the action and had good coverage, even the big Chase Claypool catch could have easily been called in Wrights favor.
Cox: Stuck his nose in and had noticable closing speed on a couple of plays
Fehoko: Had a nice release to draw a penalty call to shift the chains
Mukuamu: Made a big 4th down pass break up to get us off the filed
Bohanna: He spent a lot of time out there and must have been gassed but had some big moments on the goal line plays.

Stock down:
1. Ben DiNucci:
I'll be honest, I'd cut him tomorrow and look elsewhere
2. Semi Fehoko: Had a big play where he drew a holding foul but probably the one rookie that didn't impress me. I think he's a practice squad candidate.
3. Hunter Niswander: I'm now a little worried about the kicker position
4. Ty Nezkhe: I think it was him that was the turnstile after Knight came off but I need to watch the O-line to get an overall feel.
5. Edge rushers in general: We rarely got pressure on the QB from the edges which was disappointing. I think it was Kamara, Carter, and Armstrong that got most of the snaps.

I didn't really get a good look at the line play, I'd like to see who was playing OC & OG and how they went, I'd also like to get a feel for who was the best option for swing tackle.

I'd like to hear others opinions as its hard to see everything.

Niswander was only kicking because Zeurline wasn't playing.

Although you're right Niswander did not help himself at all tonight.

His edge was that in addition to punting he could also kick field goals and do kickoffs. Field goal attempts looked ugly and kick offs were just ok

He'll have to do a lot better in order to beat out Anger.

I believe Basham started the game at RDE

Might be hurting his chances because he's not focusing all of his attention on punting. We knew he wasn't going to look good on FGs, but it didn't appear that he looked good on punts, either. I'll have to go back and check the numbers, though.

All rookies made an impact? Must have missed all that. You really seem to have a low bar for making an impact.

UDFA rookie WR Brennan Eagles did great with that 1 catch for 25 yards at the end of the game. Hope he gets more opportunities next week.

It was a great catch and I hope they move him up the depth chart a little but he'd still be a long way back on the list of WR's to make the roster IMO, I didn't even know he was on the roster before that.

What I meant by impact was that I can point to a good play for each of them that had a direct impact on the game. Not that they were all amazingly impactful overall. I think a flash at this early stage is a good start.

That seems harsh. I don't remember too many guys that will make the roster playing badly and we had a shutout for the first half didn't we?

There were a few stand out plays but otherwise I felt we underperformed as a whole. It's preseason so the sky isn't falling, we could have done better though.

What I meant by impact was that every one of them had at least one positive play where they directly impacted things. Not that they were amazingly impactful overall.

That sounds ridiculous to me. I saw Bohanna and Osa getting mauled and run over several times. What so they made one tackle at some point somewhere? This is supposed to be an analysis. Under that low bar the entire team made an impact if they were in the game.

Yeah that sound right, I wasn't sure. At that stage I was only watching Parsons but at any rate, I don't remember any pressure from the edges at all for the whole game.
Ya it was pretty absent. We couldn't even get coverage pressure on a few plays. There were a few plays where Rudolph had 5 seconds or more in the first quarter. A vet edge rusher after cuts might be something they should look at

Game overall was bad for both teams. That has to be the expectation for a HOF game where both starting QB's dont play. All in all I didnt see anything alarming. It got bad in the 4th, but most of those guys on both teams will either be on the PS or on the street

The one concern for me after the game was edge rusher depth. I saw enough from everyone else that mattered to think they can play a rotational role but will have to take a closer look at the O-line / D-line as it's hard to judge from one sitting.

I saw that too but I also think they had as many positive snaps as negative ones. I also don't have either as starters for the season so am looking at them in a rotational role.

We focused on getting run defenders like Basham in FA and Golston in the draft. It looks like we're going to be counting on Lawrence, Gregory and probably Parsons for pressure. It didn't look like we were trying to do anything to create extra pressure, either, like blitzing Parsons. We kept it very vanilla, but that only means that the DEs needed to win their matchups, and they didn't.

Neither Anae or Golston were out there, so I don't know if they can bring anything to the table. Not expecting it from Golston, though.

Basham's skill set is more as a pass rusher than a run stopper. He just hasnt been very good playing out of position as a stand up rusher

In his 2020 season with the Jets, Basham finished with a 71.7 run defense grade, a 65.6 pass rush grade, and an overall grade of 64.6, by Pro Football Focus. In 2019, PFF gave him a 67.5 run defense grade, a 67.1 pass rush grade, and an overall grade of 73.1.

I know some don't like PFF's grades, but he hasn't really developed as a pass rusher while his run defense has been a little better. We likely got him for his upside as a pass rusher and solid play as an edge run defender.
