Some of the stuff Jerry gets credit for isn't him, it's just the team being the blueblood name that it is.

Jerry is still living off the Landry legacy. If he had bought the Chargers like he wanted to as a younger man, people would barely know who he is.

I gave a like but thought more on it. What if Jerry Jones had hired Jimmy Johnson in that scenario as he did in reality?

I can see things playing out for him initially like it did for real. Jones would benefit from Johnson masterminding one or more Super Bowls and the rest of his ownership would likely play out the same way except:

• the San Diego (and later Los Angeles) markets would not provide him nearly the same attention and notoriety
• the Board of Selectors would not have inducted him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as soon (or ever) despite how much money he brought into the league for the same reason

You are 100% correct Jones would not have a longstanding franchise legacy to feed off on. Even so, I think similar events would carve enough of a niche for him that he would get David Teppers-type attention from sports talking heads.

Do you all realize you are being played? By the master manipulator that is Jerry.

Why just look at a few facts over the last week…
- the bears asked to talk to MM… they were denied by the cowboys, leading to all sorts of speculation that he would be coming back.
- during the wildcard playoffs all the media did was carry the story and speculate about MM’s future
- the wildcards are over and done with and the cowboys announce they are parting ways with Mike… wow what a shock!!!!, as if they ever truly wanted him to come back
- now the speculation is who will the Cowturds hire? With some big names being thrown out
- in the end Jerry will announce his next coach just before the SB… for maximum effect…

Just like he always does, he manipulates the media like no other… and he knows the cowboys fan base will believe this is their year…

He throws out lines like “all in” and the media and fans speculate like a bunch of sharks smelling blood.

He signed Prescott to a historic deal… not because he believes he will win him a title. Jerry is a lot of things but he’s not stupid, it’s because each and every day his name is mentioned and people speculate what that means for this team for the next 4 years…

His cowturds are in the news, that’s what he wants… and the faithful will continue to speculate along with the media…

All the while Jerry all he cares about is FORBES ranking… and him raking in as much money as he can.

Ask yourself this… how many teams could have 3 decades of not winning anything and still be number 1 Forbes most valuable franchise…

The answer is no one.
That’s because no one has the master manipulator that is Jerry Jones.

There are a slew of casuals on FB that do. They're the ones that say I'm not a real fan, or I'm a 'hater' when I say anything critical. I saw a "The Dallas Cowboys are winning the SB" post by one of the Cowboys groups. Those are the fans that make the rest of us look bad. I hate them.

I know there are people out there that support the Cowboys and everything they do. I call them homers. But if you ask them, is Jerry doing a good job as GM, would they say yes?

I mean I love the Cowboys and have since the mid-1960s. When they do something good, I will admit it. But ask me if I think Jerry is good or bad for this team and I will tell you emphatically I think he needs to let go and get a legitimate GM to run his team.

This commentary is very odd considering you yourself are doing more than just tuning in "from a distance and reviewing scores on Monday" while enjoying the rest of your life.

You are here, right? And you started this thread, and showed how you are following the media reports, yet you are lecturing others for not just "reviewing scores on Monday" and enjoying their lives away from the Cowboys.

Most of the people who come here know all this, it is the casual fans who rely on the media for info, and go to games that drink the koolaide
jerry passes out.
Anyone who bothers to come here, knows way more than casual fans. They go to games and watch on tv, and dont think much
about the why's, and probably dont keep up with how long it has been since the last won a div game.
Most of them are satisfied with a winning record and playoff game.

Also it is ok to follow cowboys or come here even if you dont like jones's or the current team and want them to lose.
Sadly nothing is going to change for another 20 years lol so thats what we have . Just accept it and have fun with it as it is or move on
and forget about the cowboys.

The NFL itself has gone downhill, and produces a now lackluster product which is getting harder to watch each year.

Which is why Jerry saved the announcement that McCarthy wouldn't return until Mike Vrabel was being announced as the next head coach in New England.
Jerry upstate Robert Craft to grab headlines, and this whirlwind coaching search is a desperate grab at headlines.
Jerry will likely keep the drama going until just after the Super Bowl, assuring him of grabbing more headlines during that week.
It's all a sad show put on by a sad man, attempting to regain some respect from the fans.
While it may work in the short term, Dak Prescott is still signed to that four year deal, and the attention will eventually fade.
