That's the key. The numbers bear this out.

The Eagles have a very good winning percentage with Wentz under Peterson when they run the ball well. They don't have a very good record when they don't run the ball effectively, regardless of how many yards and TDs Wentz throws for.

The Saints used this analysis a few weeks ago when they dismantled Philly. Their analysts informed the coaching staff that if you stuffed the Eagles run game, it wouldn't matter how good Wentz was. There was a stat that the Eagles had a losing record even when Wentz threw for more than 300 yards if the team couldn't run the ball.

So Rod, stop the run. Make that priority #1 against Philly.

Josh Adams is not very good, that's the thing. Their other 3 backs are scatbacks who don't really run well inside. This won't be an issue.

The Eagles averaged 4.4 yards per carry against us a few weeks ago, one of our worst run performances of the year. The Eagles simply decided to throw the ball a ton that game. Their OL is playing much better.

Assuming they can't run is a mistake.

I hope not, but I don't think they had Sproles back for that Saints game. I still think he could be a factor.
He's a limited use scatback at this point. He can't really handle more than 5-10 offensive snaps per game at this point in his career.

It looks like the Cowboys used that very same strategy against the Saints themselves.

But didn't Jaylon Smith stop Adams up the middle on a critical 4th & short?? How about LVE's acrobatic tackle of Clement late in the game?

It's not about YPC, it's about who wins on 3rd and (especially against the Eagles) 4th down.. I don't mind giving up 20 yard rushes on the first play of every drive if we stall them out immediately after that.

that and having pressure in brees face all game - a 6' QB that can't step up in the pocket is gonna have trouble, even though he is a HOF QB...I don't have the stats but I would like to know Wentz' success rate out of the pocket (in the event that Dallas flushes him out of there during the game)

I've seen multiple reports and @CATCH17 's analysis, that indicates that the Cowboys defense does better against immobile quarterbacks than the mobile ones. The recent, inexplicable home loss to the Titans seems to support that, as does the performance against the less mobile Drew Bree's and the Saints.

I hope the Cowboys are responsible in their pass rush and don't allow Wentz to make key runs or keep big plays alive.

Yep, the last two prime time games I've watched I've seen a 90 and a 99 yard Run for a TD. We'll have none of that nonsense! Syd, that flies in the face of what most are saying which is "stop or limit Wentz to Ertz". "Both" says Deion! Good post. Interesting stat

The Eagles lack of explosive talent in the backfield has almost made them one dimensional. Doug Pederson's vaunted offense has essentially evolved into "throw it to Ertz."

You better believe though that Philly is going to empty the playbook on us. We may even see a fake punt or a field goal.

Adams, Clement, Sproles and the mobility of Wentz. Can hurt us. Individually they do not seem scary, but if used right, they can get some yards.
Our D is playing better to counter their O playing better.

Key is, can they stop Zeke this time. Can we move the ball and put up points the entire game like we did the 2nd half against them the 1st game.

I will have to look around for that regarding Wentz and how he does throwing the ball when on the move - his runs seem to extend their drives a lot but it isn't designed runs for the most part, it is plays breaking down...

Wentz is excellent at extending plays and throwing the ball down the field. He's like Aaron Rodgers a bit in that way.

I agree and it was mentioned in their last game, when Eagles can get some production out of the run game their offense tends to get a rhythm. There are not a great running team but that ground game makes a difference for them. They have struggled with it at times which is why they are sitting where they are record wise. With Sproles back in the lineup it is important to not let Philly get anything going on the ground

Will be a tough matchup for irving who hasn't hardly played or practiced this year but will be exciting to watch as a part of our killer defense.

sady, I live in eagles territory in NE Penna so that is all I hear and see when I put one of their games on, but that is just the eye test - I would just like to know how he fares (statistically) when out of the pocket vs in the pocket - I just haven't had the time to look it up yet

Two plays doesn't mean they can't run on us.

YPC is actually pretty important.

You are being shortsighted on this IMO.
