Stopping Russia...What Will Obama Do?

Right now countries like Russia, China, and North Korea LAUGH at us because we do nothing to confront them...yet we invade Afghanistan and Iraq which are far less important to national security.

Russia invades Ukraine at will and there are no clear words from Obama for how they will be dealt with? This makes me yearn for Ronald Reagan.

In before this gets locked due to politics.......the following will not go in that direction.

I live near an AFB(Ellington-Reserves now) and all day, there have been fighter jets scrambling all over the place. We are talking low flying almost knocking windows out. Many friends across the Houston area have reported the same. They are going somewhere in a hurry and we were wondering why, there is never that much activity unless there is an upcoming air show.

Come to find out, a Russian ship secretly docked into Cuba without warning. I wonder if this has something to do with it or coincidence? Interesting to say the least, got my own private air show practically

i don't think one has anything to do with the other. it's a "spy" ship with limited weapons, as far as weapons go.

ok, it's actually a spy ship that will show the latest in russian transformer technology and emerge into a battleship. we knew that, cause we're good like that. so we're sending planes over houston to take it out before it finds the allspark.

So raise taxes (11 times), increase the federal deficit (3 times the previous level), increase unemployment, facilitate illegal wars, etc.

Russia, China, and N. Korea also have nukes...big boys don't tangle...at least not directly in the last half century or so

The worst thing the US could do is to continue over extending itself. There is nothing Russia and China would love more than for us to get involved in another war.

This thread is going to end well... I'm not sure where you get the notion that countries "laugh" at the US.

The US is allies with the EU, and Ukraine is where the EU and Russia meet head to head. If Russia uses force in Ukraine you can bet we will be there.

why? and other countries laugh at us all the time and many of the times, it's deserved. we've got our own "in house" problems to worry about so taking sides here to put up appropriate posturing, i just don't care about.

What happens if Russia does actually take over eastern/southern Ukraine and the west half is pro-Europe? Does that mean Russia will try to take over all of Europe like Germany? I think this is just like all the chatter of states seceding away from the US it is the Ukraine's choice to be part of Russia, who cares?

This reminds me of the James Blunt story here

Blunt, a former cavalry officer in the British Army, was leading a NATO column under order to seize the Pristina airfield in Kosovo in 1999.

The EU is too strong of an ally for the US not to support them. Add on that Russia is the antagonist and you can guarantee that we will be involved if anything goes down.
