My personal policy for parking anywhere is to do so as far away from the building(s) as possible. I don't mind walking x-amount of feet to get inside. What tees me off is coming back to my vehicle and finding dents, etc. The dumbest people in the world are those who can't:
a) drive properly in a parking lot;
b) open the doors of their vehicles before first checking what they might hit; and
c) put away a used shopping cart. D-U-M-B-E-S-T.
