Unless you've had the misfortune of trying one, nobody's going to understand how vile Durian really are. I'd rather eat my dog's anal sac.

:lmao2:

What the hell is so bad about this Durian thing that everyone is ragging on it? Does it taste like **** or just a consistency thing?

That's also called head cheese. You literally take a pigs head and boil the whole thing. All the bits of meat are what fall from the skull as it's boiled. The gelatin is drawn out of the head and holds the whole mess together. No thank you.

My grandparents made this when I was a kid. I tried it once. Once.

But I do love Rocky Mt. Oysters. I will eat some of the spare parts off an animal. Just not all. Heh.

:puke: to both. Head cheese and bull nuts.

That was funny. I know it is a cultural thing, but I totally do not understand why someone would ever choose to eat any of the things he showed on that episode. It is like people went out of their way to find the nastiest conconctions on the planet. To me, this is just more evidence of extra-terrestrial integration on our planet.

They say it 'tastes like Heaven, smells like Hell.' But really it tastes worse than it smells.

I ate a bowl of warm Durian pulp to impress my asian mother-in-law my first trip to Taiwan. Until I finally retched. She suggested I freeze it overnight, because then it 'tastes like ice-cream.' Only if you like your ice cream ***-flavored. I ate a second bowl, frozen, the next morning. It was like eating a cold turd. I *think* I scored brownie points for trying. Not sure. I asked my wife to help me out, and she just said '**** that.' Sorry for the blue language here, but we're describing the taste of Durian, so vulgarity's pretty much necessary in this situation.

Never tried this either but apparently, it is a real burger.

The Luther Burger:
A beef patty, cheese, bacon, and mayo, (fried egg and grilled onions optional) served between two krispy kreme doughnuts.

The place that made this famous isn't very far from my house.

Have you dared to try one?

Hell no. I am not a health nut, but I think if I ate one of those i'd vomit.

I've eaten Durian. Honestly if you can somehow get past the smell (and the smell is really bad), it doesn't taste all that bad.

I don't know why the guy was unable to get it down, I could never eat some of the other stuff he eats in that video. It tastes kinda sweet and creamy. Can't eat too much of it at a time, but a little is fine. The smell, again, is pretty bad.

Edit: And I've only ever liked it fresh, like a day after it drops from the tree. I tried it frozen once (back in the States) and thought it was disgusting.

The smell of a food is just too much a part of the taste for me... no thanks.

Yeah, that's what they say! I'd forgotten about that. It's best right after it drops. After that, it starts to go 'bad.' But then I ate mine the day it dropped, and it still tasted like freshly-dropped ***.

Speaking of taste, the briar's tender growing tips have the texture and taste of raw asparagus. Only the growing tips are usable as the vines, leaves and thorns quickly harden, become stringy and are no longer tasty when the thorns dry sharp and hard.

Once we took our neice camping with us and we picked a fresh salad of locally available plants, including briars and she was reluctant at first but saw us enjoying them so she tried them and liked them and ate more of them than we did. When we got back she phoned her friend and told her "Yeah, they made me eat thorny briars but they were good and I liked them."
