Strangest Season Start Ever?

We're all die hard fans, we go through the ups and downs of the seasons devouring every word about our team, good and bad.

Usually, by now, I have a pretty good feel for how we will be, what our range is record wise.

This year, I have no idea. And I see predictions ranging from 3-13 to 11-5.

We know the defense should be bad, but there are so many question marks that could turn into positives.

We know the offense should be good, but we haven't really seen it yet.

Part of me says, we are 4-12, another part says 10-6 and NFC East crown.

It's a strange start for the season. I haven't seen enough to know. The starting D has not played a down together and the starting O hasn't played much. I guess that makes it exciting, at least for a little while. It's definitely strange. Anyone else feel that way?

This is probably true for many teams, but some of us [including myself] just haven't paid that much attention.

Pretty much. I don't think 4-12 bad but if thing fall apart then I could see a below 500. However I think this team is very capable of posting a winning season and taking the East.

Lots of questions to be bandied about regarding the Cowboys' chances this season. The mad scramble to acquire added talent right before the season is about to be getting underway has been interesting. If not that, it's surely been somewhat of a mystery as to whether to be encouraged, confounded, amused or confused. Mostly, I'm simply excited and somewhat relieved to see things finally getting underway with a new season to look forward to. Win or lose, I know the upcoming journey promises to be an exciting one.

Yes, I agree with you a 100%. We just really don't know what to expect from this team. I also feel less enthusiastic about this season. Maybe it is because the media keeps indicating that Dallas is going to be really bad this year. Usually, they say we have a chance. I know that they really have no say, but this year is quite a bit different from that perspective.

I'm hoping that this no name defense can actually play. Like you mentioned, we haven't fielded the entire defense yet. So we will see.....

It's really impossible to predict wins and losses this season.

They say sports is the ultimate reality show. Lack of predicability is a big part of the excitment.

I like to focus on individual players more than the overall team. When I look at each position it doesn't seem that bad. IMO, it will come down to injuries or lack thereof as much as anything.

You honestly have no idea what kind of team the Cowboys will be this year?

Really?

I agree. We can expect good offensive play, and good STs play. We should expect the defense to stink, but that's also been the case the last three seasons, so how much more is that likely to really hurt us? Plus the NFCE is not competitive. And now we're missing some long-time good players from the team and replacing them with question marks. It's hard to know which direction we're going to go when it comes to the won/loss record.
The good news is, we're getting a pretty good idea starting on Sunday.

I am so thankful I have something to be passionate about good or bad. So many people just coast through life - I like the feeling of being nervous. I know some of you have never experienced a Championship game, but trust me, you'll be shaking from the moment you wake up that day. I love being pissed and down in the dumps for a day after a tough loss and I love jumping around like kid when we pull one out. I'll have this feeling of opening day the rest of my life into my 80's...

...while everybody else in the home is playing bingo. (I hope)

I am so thankful for the Dallas Cowboys.

This statement is the same year after year. Camp cupcake never allows for unity which is why we never have a real team on the field. Pretty sad, I can't stand how much our owner and coach talk the talk but nobody can walk the walk.

Why is it you think our training camps are 'cupcakes' again?

Because every single year guys get banged up a little and instead of playing through a small injury they are given off for 1 week or so. This happens all the time, then that same player is not ready physically or mentally when weak one starts. Claiborne, comes to mind every year. Can't get through the little injuries in training camp but alway available in the regular season.
Practice how you play and you will play how you practice is the number one saying and it is SO TRUE. See the Dallas Cowboys.

I think our camps are generally considered to be pretty aggressive under Garrett. The coach mentioned it again in his press conference today that our camp he expected to be an advantage in early season conditioning as everybody comes up to speed. I suspect you're seeing the regular allotment of soft-tissue injuries we get every year with 90 guys doing however-many hours of practice + four games and just not having a frame of reference for how injuries affect everybody. I'd be interested in seeing the data for the whole league, though, at some point. It might be that we have more nagging injuries than other teams. I honestly don't know one way or another.

This is the most deflated I've ever been to start a season. It just disgusts me how Jerry has wasted Romo's prime. And this year we have very little juice on defense and we are an injury away on offense of going 2-14. Jerry is probably taking interferon injections to live to age 95. Very little hope for the future with Jerry being the owner. :(
