The penalties stopped at least 4 drives.theres the difference right there. Most of the penalties were deserved but there were a couple of bad ones

That's 4 and then add 2 tornovers and you have a lot of work to do.

And then you have Dak sliding 1 yard short of the 1st to keep the game alive for the Vikings - that was such a big mistake!

We won the last 2 games but this will tire out the defense
We can't continue to play like this and expect to win
Need to control the clock and TOP to keep the defense fresh

The one thing we had not had this year was the penalties but that has changed recently. I don't mind penalties being called on us but the Commanders and Vikings passed over 90 times in the past 2 games and I don't think either of them were called for holding when I saw a lot of blatent holds!

Offensive Plays:
Vikings: 66
Cowboys: 46

Their D really didn't give us much at all. Without that long strike to Dez and the PR fumble, we struggle to score 10 points last night.

That may be true but without the penalties I think Zeke would have run for over 150 on them. He had 50-60 taken back in penalties and if some of those drives are not stopped by penalty and turnover, by the fourth quarter he would have been running all over them.

I'll have to re-watch but i thought the holding calls were legit this week.

Don't forget the phantom hands o the face penalty on Scandrick that nullified a pick. That was a huge penalty.

Hitchens played such a good game, it's a shame he lost that pick, Landry.

How great would it be if Hitchens is regaining the form he was developing his rookie year, and is turning the corner after playing, quite frankly, pretty bad to start the year. That was his best game of the season by far. That OScan "penalty" was just a killer. Hopefully it makes Hitch hungrier :)

Yes, if Hitchens can play consistently, it would be huge. Heck, it would be huge if anybody new could step up and play good, consistent defense. That Minny offense was so bad that it's difficult to say that our defense played well last night. I worry a lot that they will be our undoing in the end. To the OScan hands to the face penalty, I'm not 100% sure I didn't see that with my homer glasses on, but it sure looked to me as if his hand grazed the very side of his head. I haven't found a replay of it yet, so I can't say for sure, but I think that was a bad call.

Not sure about Free's on Zeke's long run. He might have hooked his arm but you could not see from the replay. The clip on Escobar was a farce as he just fell down.

That Esco "penalty" was pure and utter bull ****. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong, and arguing for the sake of arguing. As you said, he fell on the guy, did they flag that as a "cut block?" Lol

Horrid call. Not to say we didn't deserve the majority of our penalties, but that one was the most egregious call, IMO. Worse than the OScan one that negated Hitch's awesome int.

We've played some great teams, I'm not seeing any clear cut favorites over us even with our D, Landry. We have the "it" factor, every team has holes this year. We have a solid club and we will do damage.

The OScan penalty was ticky tack.

Or, without those Esco and OScan "penalties," we score more than 24. Works both ways. In the end, what was called was called, and we won, brother. 11-1 against a gritty team, take it and enjoy it, brudda. I am :)

Look at the ones not called against the Vikings.
They had tons of holding with their OLmen.
Saw one play where their OLmen ripped off our guys helmet but no hands to the face there.
Afterwards, you see Garrett doing the hands to the face gesture to the ref.
A lot of looking the other way ****, didn't see nothing.

They did call one accepted hold last night on the Vikings but he tackled our guy so they really had to call it. But I agree, Our opponents have been getting away with blatant hold and we get called for every ticky-tack thing.

Our defense is bad, but they aren't. It's weird. I want them to be the 85 bears just like you, but they just don't give up that many points. Lots of yards, but not points. It's really amazing actually.

Props.

That's one of the most insightful posts I've read on this board.

It's a good way of putting it. If you look at pass yardage given up you'd say it was a bad defense. If you look at the truly meaningful stat, i.e. points given up, they're very efficient.

Totally agree that every team is flawed and there isn't a single team I look at and think of as a probable loss. I'm just concerned that the law of averages will catch up with us at the wrong time. That said, I'd rather be us than anybody else in the league right now. We'll be favored in every game we play right up to the Super Bowl, and maybe even favored there if we get there. The importance of last night's win can't be overstated, IMO. We maintain our cushion over the giants and may even extend it this weekend. That's huge. They're our closest competitor. The winner of the NFC East will also hold HFA in all likelihood. We're very close to having that locked up. Our Boys just gotta keep their heads down and keep plugging as though they're behind in the standings. If they take that approach, they'll wrap this thing up in pretty short order. Go Cowboys!!!!!!!!

I certainly didn't think the one against Free that got Zeke's long run called back was legit. That bordered between ticky-tack and phantom, IMO.

And yet the won. Games like this happen, especially on the last game of a 3 in 11 days stretch. Based on the way the schedule fell the Cowboys had no business going on the road and winning this one but they did. That is mental toughness right there
