How strong is next years draft class expected to be relative to this past year's draft class? This past year's class is looking relatively strong compared to prior years.

If we trade a guy like Romo or Dez would the draft class be strong enough to warrant it even if we got premium compensation for doing it?

According to the Draft Show today, it looks to be solid for DE, CB, Safety and especially RB. Some have said it's a weak qb class, so even more lucky that we have Dak

Why are we trading Dez?
Apparently because Dallas won a couple of games without him, so he is clearly not needed.

Really though, I look at the thread as a draft thread asking for the strengths of next year's crop... so even though the trade Dez is silly, it still is a viable thread IMO.

I was referring to the strength of the draft class overall regardless of position

De class is weak to me. Garrett is the only clear cut blue chip. CB is deep as is safety and rb though

Remember when Jimmy wanted to trade Irvin ?
Some of the best deals are the one's not made.

Isn't that what they said about last year's QB class? Seems like Wentz, Prescott, Brissett, and Kessler have other ideas.

Yeah, but it's all guesswork. No one knows for sure. Guys like Clowney, all those guards from the 2013 draft, etc. etc. seem like sure bets, but then falter in the NFL. And vice versa for guys like Prescott (most assumed Wentz was start quality, just not stud QB level).

Cornerback,we could get a starter in rd 3 or later, really stacked and we got some luck for once because we need atleast 2 of them,

Handful of D Law type of Edge rushers. Would be nice to get one on day 2.
Lawrence entered the draft at 255. I see a lot of 270lb guys who probably don't have the quickness or speed we need but I'll keep watching. Garrett and maybe Smoot are the only two guys I've seen that impressed so far

Josh Carraway out of TCU. 2nd day guy. Currently 250 lbs but has the frame to add 10 to 15 pounds.

Watch Carl Lawson he is behind Garrett but ahead of Smoot IMO.

In case anyone missed it, if the draft ended today we'd be picking 30th.

Draft is about the same as last year but there could be 4-6 QBs that go in RD1 if they all declare. Could push some people down to us since we don't need a QB. Jets, Browns, 49ers, and Bears have a critical need. Case can be made Chiefs, Cardinals, and Dolphins should have QB on their radar too, with Giants, Chargers, and Saints moving to a point where they need to develop someone behind Manning, Rivers, and Brees.

What about WR? With both Butler and Williams as UFAs I think we take either WR or CB early, especially if DE is as weak as suggested.

He looks good but that injury history is scary. With Tapper up in the air I'd rather just get a guy that will be available.
I know, we are not pick #4 so you get some warts with your pick. He is a legitimate dominant DE who has a injury history. Nice point about Tapper I had almost forgotten about him, his back history is recoverable but he will be a project when he returns.

The 2017 should be absolutely stacked with RBs from Founette, Cook, Samaje Perine, Royce Freeman, Nick Chubb, James Connor, Christian McCaffery, etc cetera.
