All of a sudden, with the Eagles sudden run of losses, the division looks winnable. I know some of you will look at me side-eye for it, but screw it! I'm a Cowboys fan, and this is a Cowboys forum! Let a horse dream!! Strike now, Jerry!!
I think Jerry should strike while the iron is hot. I think, with the way Dak is playing, we should be BUYERS!! I didn't think I'd say this before the season, but Jerry should be BUYING. I think targets such as Hendrickson (Bengals), Minkah Fitzpatrick (Dolphins), and Bradley Chubb (LB Dolphins) would be rather affordable. Especially Hendrickson since he's on his last year. If Jerry plays it right, we can get all 3 for nothing more than maybe a few third rounders. Maybe a 2nd for Hendrickson , but hey, Jerry tends to waste those picks anyway, so not a bad use for a rental that can become a comp pick for us. With Hendrickson, we can get him as a rental and pair him with Clowney and Houston. With Chubb, we can bolster our LB core. With Fitzpatrick, we can address our safety issues. Those 3 can make our defence at least average if not better.
As long as Dak and Aubrey keep playing well if not better, an average to better defence might be all we need. Who's to say how far this team can go? I think, if the Cowboys can beat Carolina, Washington, and Arizona (let's be honest, we never beat Denver, and the last time we won there was 92.....I wasn't even born yet) heading into the bye? We would be sitting nicely at the bye. After the bye, if we can get this defence bolstered, our schedule gets tricky after the Raiders. However, if we can bolster the defence, I think we can win this division.
So, I ask Jerry. What's it going to be? Do we strike while the iron is hot and try to have a go at the division? Or will we standpat and potentially let Washington or NY take the division? It's up to Jerry Jones now.
