Struggles with Non NFCE Teams

It’s a great question. Somehow I think one of the reasons we see this is this front offices’ lack of aggressively trying to upgrade their roster like other teams are constantly doing. While Stephen Jones is lecturing us on the challenges of the salary cap, GMs like Les Snead of t(e rams, Brett Veach of the chiefs and Jason Licht of the Bucs are making big moves to upgrade their roster.

That may seem like an odd connection to why we can’t compete as well outside the NFCE. But I think it’s totally connected. The teams wringing their hands over the cap and being passive aren’t winning playoff games. OurFO is way behind the times.

I think everyone was fooled into thinking that the Patriots' penny pinching was a recipe for salary cap era success.

In reality, the stars and planets just aligned for Tom and Bill-- they had something that can't be duplicated.

Most teams have realized this now, except the Jones'.

The Jones boys always seem slow to understand the trends that teams winning SBs are doing to win. They just don’t get it.

I used to defend them. I used to believe that they wanted to win, above all.

But winning is just a bonus for these guys; a vanity endeavor.

With Dak under center, Dallas is 25-6 vs the NFCE and 30-28 vs the rest of the NFL.

This “jekyll and hyde” reality is at the root of the team’s inability to establish consistency and advance in the playoffs.

Why does this team struggle to win consistently against non division opponents? Lack of preparation and focus? Unfamiliarity with personnel?
Hey hawk,of those 30 wins, how many were against teams over 500?..I'd bet less than 10

IMO it's because that's where the bad teams were.

It's not just Dak under center.... the whole team struggles. I wonder how many of those losses came outside the division when Dak played well enough to win, but the defense got gashed and gave up leads like the Packers game.

It happens vice versa as well when the defense plays well too. It's not a Dak thing, it's a team thing.
