Stuart Scott - Valvano Center speech

ESPN gets a lot of well-deserved grief from sports fans everywhere, but Stuart Scott is a class act. He's been battling cancer for the last 7 years, and it's serious at this point. Here's his acceptance speech for the Valvano award last night if you haven't seen it yet. For those of us who know or have lost someone close to cancer, it's moving.



The actual speech starts about 1/2 way through, but the prologue is good, too.

I am no fan of Stuart Scott as an on-air personality.

However, he has endured a tremendous ordeal, and has maintained a great outlook on things. The fact that he has been able to endure for seven years speaks to how strong his desire to live is. I give him a lot of credit, and love that he is as involved with his kids as he is. Hope he can continue to beat the disease.
