Stuff I learned today

I do not drink but I think we are on autopilot now with prices. Everyone is raising prices. Energy prices have come down again, but the companies that raised prices because of higher fuel prices ad not lowering their prices accordingly. That's the problem with inflation, it is cumulative.
Yes. Some are actually taking advantage of the prices. Alcohol is a weird thing. Raise prices, and people will buy something else. Prices today are pretty much prices at the pandemic. Too much competition to raise prices. I have a beer I like, but I'll switch in a heartbeat if the one I like raises prices.

I would love to know how they came up with this. I have no doubt that additives in food are probably not good for us, but why are they there in the first place? Most are preservatives, which if not added to foods would result in more spoilage and either more illnesses and death from eating spoiled food, which would result in more lawsuit and higher prices, or we would see more food being destroyed due to spoilage which would also result in higher prices. If there is an answer I would love to hear it.

On the other hand, some additives we allow in the US are banned in other countries so they have somehow solved the problem, but in some cases it is by using alternative additives!

Still, when a person dies of a disease, like heart disease or cancer, there is no way to determine with certainty what caused his disease in the first place. People with the same diets manage to live longer lives so clearly something else has to factor into it. I saw a study recently, that made no specific claims but stated that 100% of MS patients studied had a parasite in their systems. They didn't claim the parasite caused MS but it is something interesting, isn't it?
It's a tradeoff. Either we eat preservatives, or people starve.
