Everyone tries to grade the draft based on who they think will be good players. Problem is, most of the graders have not seen most of the guys, ever! Like Mick, they buy one draft guide and go by it religiously. So, if their draft guide doesn't like a guy, they probably don't...
That's a stupid way to grade a draft. No one knows how it will turn out and the real experts aren't talking.
Instead, you should grade a draft based on maneveurs and value. On this alone, Dalls gets at least an A-
1) The Browns' coup deserves at least a B by itself
2) To get the player we wanted (Spencer) anyway moves it to a B+ (esp to only give up a 3 and 5)
3) Free was a steal in Rd 4 (A-)
4) Brown was a steal in Rd 7 (A)
5) Kicker and FB are a wash, although they were needs (so they execute the plan)
6) Only Marten and Stanback were minor reaches, perhaps driving the value back down to an A-
I can't believe some of these stupid grades (D, C, etc.) Nobody knows for sure how a player will turn out and these people grade based on the assumption they do know. A good draft is one where you trust your scouts AND you get good value. We did both, and got an extra #1. That's an A in my book
