Unfortunately that is correct. Credible journalists don't move the meter. People want to watch and listen to someone with an opinion.

Social media society, we need it right now or we are curious and going nuts.

A real journalist takes a while to make an article, doesn't take long to create a tweet. Its nuts really, the need for right now doesn't have to mean its right....just means you have something to talk about right now. Rather hear good journalism once a week, then a tweet that sounds dumb every 3 mins.
