Sturm analysis suggest O-Line Isn't League Best

Well, the article and the comments say the run-blocking is elite but the pass-blocking needs work. So...

Doesn't matter if they are the best, 3rd best or 5th best
What's important is they are young and will get better as individual players and as a unit

It wasn't, as far as pass blocking goes anyway. I think most people that watched the games could see that.

As far as run blocking, they were definitely in consideration for the best.

I want to say the Packers had what was considered the best "pass blocking" OL in the NFL, but don't quote me on that. Their OL was extremely underrated, and a large reason Rodgers was able to hobble around on crutches and scan downfield while calling his mom on his cellphone.

But it's not some crazy assertion or unreasonable. Taking into account the youth on the interior of OL and it's not a huge surprise. They're going to get better in that department.

Yeah, my point was (regarding the point the other poster was trying to make) that it hasn't yet been proven that you can't just plug any RB in behind this line. The consensus is that they are clearly the best run-blocking O-line in the league. They struggle with pass-blocking though.

I called him that when he was here. It's all there in my various fuzzy thoughts after games that you have come to love.

I was going to say you don't need to answer yourself to that guy, but then I saw you pimp your own threads in the same sentence and I changed my stance to:

I avoided this thread until now because I usually run away from "pro analysis". The thread title is misleading. That doesn't seem to be what the article is saying.

That, and he misspelled the author's name.

This is actually good stuff to follow. We won't be shallow on changes still to come. Three more offensive linemen were added this draft period, and they all will need development.

The age of this growing unit, will show some warts for a couple more years. But knowing this, change should have plenty of top room to truely get great. And that does take about three years as a minimum.

The defensive line is very similar in growth projections now as well

Pass blocking is more about technique, these players will get better with time. That is the whole point of having young talented players with high pedigree.

I cannot help but troll him back. It's a weakness, I know. I never realized how much of a fan of my postgame posts he was until he told me. Now that I know, this year's are going to be that much more fun.

Leary is the weak link at pass blocking but his run blocking is elite.

Interesting article:

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***/2015/05/cowboys-pass-protection-wks-1-4-sack-register.html/

Does this mean "any RB" can't run behind it or does that debatable assertion still stand? Hrmmm

I'm OK with this.

Saying any RB can run behind this line..

Smacks of the old statement where Jerrah pissed off Jimmy Johnson by saying..

500 coaches could coach the team and win Championships.

It's arrogent and trash talk that only comes back to haunt the team as a whole.

We are not that good.

Not yet.

It took Philly to have a complete meltdown to allow us to do it.

I don't think that is going to happen again.

Plus the Jints and Skins did the same thing.

Those are very good organizations and very proud with talent who both drafted very well.

So let's try to bury all this OL domination and wait and see where we are?

Red Ex- Love you man. You're an intelligent poster and you generally come across as a man who knows what he's trying to convey, but your presentation:
I get what you say and why you're doing with it this way, but I just can't follow beyond three or four lines. It's almost physically difficult. I know that sounds silly, but it is and I would like to read your thoughts in a more comfortable manner.

I am asking you, from the bottom of my heart: Please stop double spacing so much and quit breaking your thoughts into multiple lines. It's painful. I feel like a sinus headache is coming on when I read your posts and you're too good for that.
C'mon man. You can do this for us. I know I speak for more than myself here.

Agree. Fun read. Thanks. Any RB cannot run behind this line (or any line for all that matters). It's silly to assume so....

He's right and most have said as much. They usually held up in pass protection when it was needed most, but had plenty of struggles across the board. Stunts really seemed to bug the interior of the OL. They also seemed to struggle with who to pick up when the defense sent more than could be blocked to allow Romo an area to step into his throw.

It's to be expected though honestly. Leary and Frederick were 2nd year starters and Martin was a rookie. As they continue to play together and learn the recognition, communication and technique should improve.
