Sturm - Decoding Linehan - At Giants

I think that next time we see them, the key is going to be to try and put Dak in situations where he can use his legs to create problems for NY. I mean, I am never really a big fan of exposing your QB as a part of the game plan but, in situations like this, where it's obvious that the DC is scheming to take away what you do and that scheme is working, then the unaccounted for piece of the Offense is usually the QB and his ability to make yards on his own. When the scheme is working, you can not account for that and it usually provides some very key 1st downs and one or two big plays.

Complex Defensive Schemes usually build on each phase of the Defense. When they work, they look awesome but, when one piece of that scheme fails, it usually has a cascade effect and the whole house of cards, so to speak, come down because it's all built off of each Defensive unit and it's success as a whole.

There are wholes in the Defense and you can see them when the game is being played but, Dak is not finding them or able to exploit them and this is not a bash Dak post, before that gets started. He is a rookie, he's going to miss things that experience Pro's don't. On the other hand, he has physical skills that a lot of those experienced QBs don't so you have to figure out how to bring those things to the table. I'm confident we can get the Giants. We just need to start pulling on that one loose thread and once we get that thing going, it will all unravel.

3rd and 5, this route combination is garbage. 2 Go routes on the outside, Witten running 2 yards short of the sticks and Dez running the usual dig route. Dez needs to run that route flatter so he can create better separation, but the whole concept has 1 viable option for a first down.

NYG are blitzing a lot and keying on Zeke and that Dak won't have time to make long throws. Like the jet sweep, if there was a well executed QB run in the first quarter where Dak got more than 10 yards, you don't have to run him again the entire game as Linehan doesn't like him to run, but that keeps the defense honest

So much better than static circles or triangles.....................

Hmmm.......I saw Leary getting held from getting to the second level on almost every play and Witten looked horrible. But I've never been a proponent of a TE on a DE.....ever. Rarely works.

I did see some missed assignments or late getting there.

This Offense better get used to the cold. They, IMO, looked to be playing to go home.

Do just enough to eek out a win..........gets ya a loss by three.

God yes!

There were enough deficiencies in the game overall that should've deflected inappropriate criticism towards Prescott. For example, Church should have converted a couple of turnovers on interceptions--cast or no cast.

Unfortunately, Prescott is in the unnecessarily criticized boat that Romo has been in his entire career with some people. Could Prescott have played better? Yep. Could his teammates have played better? Yep. Better play on Prescott AND/OR teammates' part would have changed the outcome of the game.

Some people should back off on Bailey though. He's The Man. He's an Untouchable. He's... well pretty darn good enough to not get too much grief for bonking a rare field goal attempt off a crossbar. :)

yep, we stank but so did the Giants. Church makes that tackle on Odell also different outcome (perhaps)...
I can't blame anything on the defense considering they held them to 10 points and got a couple of turnovers. The defense was more than good enough to win that game.
