I would agree that you don't need a top 5 defense to win it all but I do think this defense along the front line will need to improve as the season progresses. Come post season teams need to be able to kick things up a notch. Weaknesses become more and more exposed. I think the defense right now is playing pretty much as I hoped they would and in some areas like the secondary even better than I expected. I knew this defense had to play along the lines of bend but don't break and that is pretty much what they are doing.

My hope is as the season moves forward that Lawrence will get himself back into game shape and start becoming a bigger impact and that others like Irvin and Davis can help in brining much needed pressure. I like what I see but I know more will be asked of this defense as you get closer to post season and once in post season.

I'm beginning if a 3-man rush might not ought to be the default for Cowboys in passing downs, given our personnel.

We don't have 4 good decent pass rushing so why not saturate the secondary with fleet athletes. More interceptions, more hits immediately on contact.
