I also disagree on Carter. Watching him engage guards on the goalline, i think he thumps just fine. He had trouble getting off his block on the 3rd and 2 but outside of that he was fine and no one really sustained much less finished blocks on him. On the thrid and two he shed and made the tackle.

And for all his poo pooing the PD he made that was against Jacoby Ford a WR. And what plays is he complaining about his man coverage? It seems to me that Sturm's expectation is Derrick Brooks or Carter sucks. You watch enough LB play in the NFL, you will see most of them struggle with stuff 15 yards downfield matched up against perimeter skill players.

So, out our best starting LBers would be Durant - Durant - Durant.

I haven't seen enough game play to form my own opinion, but based on his, there's really no way we could keep Carter. He's terrible against the run and only good in zone coverage, whereas our corners shine in man. And he'll become more expendable next year with Lee back and an in shape McClain.

It looks like it will be

SLB - Wilber, Lawrence
MLB - McClain, Holloman
WLB - Durant, Hitchens

And maybe flip Carter for a mid round pick.

This day.....I still don't understand the personnel switch and to do it with Monte Kiffin of all people. We were one or two guys away from being a solid 3-4 defense personnel wise. Getting rid of Rob...fine. I actually wasn't against that. But abandoning the 3-4.....that made no sense with a team full of 3-4 personnel.

That's what I saw from McClain too. I agree with him about Wilber too. If we had drafted Shazier he would probably be starting over Carter.

Ryan Shazier had problems with is hamstrings before the draft and missed Pittsburgh’s first preseason game due to injuries.

Do you think he would be in any way less injured in Dallas given our record in that department?

We need somebody with talent who can also stay healthy and I don't think Shazier is that man.

it doesn't make sense that we would have to get rid of Lee if we kept McClain. People have been talking all along about moving Lee outside where he might face less physical contact.

Good point. Has he played yet?

Shazier was awesome in Pittsburgh's 2nd game.

He did, but then Sean Lee has had some blinding games as well and in the regular season to boot, but we all know how that's working out for us!

The entire station seems to have become more negative since then. Norm this morning, taking everthing that was said and put a negative spin on it, so it seemed. He can't take what is said is for what it is meant, he thinks there is some underlying "untruth" to everything Jason said.
Especially has it out for mcClain also. I used to think the ticket was heads and tails over the Fan, but starting to think the Fan has moved ahead. And I think the Fan morning guys are idiots. LOL. but they make more sense anytmore than the ticket.

LOL

The Ticket was the flagship station for two years and Jerry opted out of the 5 year contract because the Ticket wouldn't stop criticizing the team.

Surprise that some homers prefer Jerry's new flagship station.

Some of the Dallas media is unadulterated rude in reporting and building a real picture, not tainted with scandal.

jerry opted out to make more money.
CBS overpaid to get the rights because they desperately wanted to gain traction in the market.
Jerry has stated many times he even likes the mocking of him on Ticket.
but mostly he likes making money and opting out made him a lot more.

if jerry was sensitive he never would have went to the Ticket.
it isnt like they started criticizing him all of a sudden, it has happened since they went on the air.

Garrett's tone sounded kind of ominous on Holloman this morning. Got a bad feeling he might be done, or close to it.

I've heard a bunch of different reasons for why he opted out, but most of them from the Cowboys side are things that were present when they signed on with the Ticket. Weak signal, could make more money elsewhere, etc.

Jerry went with the Ticket because they smoke everyone else in ratings, and he thought he could "buy" the biggest sports radio station in the market.

He may not mind the playful mocking, but he doesn't like the legit criticism.

This isn't consistent with anything I've ever observed from Jerry. I think he's literally ok with any attention he gets from the press. I'm sure, in his offices, in his organization, it's a different matter. Nobody gets away with actually disrespecting him there. But nobody fishes for attention on topics like the Manziel draft pick after the fact if they're actually concerned about legitimate criticism of their GM duties. As long as people are talking Jerry or talking Cowboys, I think he's happy with the situation. That certainly seems to be the pattern, at least.

He thinks his "flagship station" is part of his organization, and he felt disrespected... I know he used to say he loved Gordo's fake Jerry, but I haven't heard anything recently from him about that. He will do press conferences with a pool of reporters, but he sure doesn't go on the Ticket for one-on-one interviews anymore. If he was just "all press is good press," he'd be on every station.
