They were terrible in short yardage and inside the red zone. My hope is that Zeke and Morris, get us into much more manageable passing downs on second and third downs. And on short yardage, they become much more of a weapon in converting short yardage. It is great help for Tony and will be more helpful when we have such a young QB starting the season.

I was in chat and mentioned our short yardage woes and got called out, so I looked it up. We were sixth in the league in short yardage situations last year. Seemed worse though...

Yep. It's why we were high on Dunbar, and with a better inside running threat, if he's effective in patterns, it's even better with Elliott.

If you spread them with 5 wides while Dak is your QB it adds a whole new dimension too. His mobility would be down right scary in that set.

The problem with that is if he runs and gets hurt then what? I can't imagine they will intentionally put him in harms way.

I wouldn't make it a staple. But anything with a high success rate is fair game with all the money on the table.

The key to pounding teams with the running game is converting on third downs,,, often with passes. Romo was awesome at this, adjusting the play at the LOS and consistently delivering it to the right spot for the first down. Can Dak do this consistently? I think he can, just not in the same way. He can't read and adjust like Romo and isn't as consistent yet,,, but that run option is always there and his screen passes are pretty awesome. I'm interested to see how the team adjusts the offense for Dak.
Very true
To keep running the ball you have to convert 3rd downs. The single most important stat in the run game is converting 3rd downs. That's how you get to run more plays and give more carries to the rb's
As for adjustments we seen a glimpse in the pre season. Dak has actual ability to run the ball and can do roll outs with that threat which greatly effects the defense. With jet sweeps to lucky and mis direction runs with Dak some you gorse defenses to cover the entire field which is hard to do if you try double Bryant. If Dak can do close to what he did as far as accuracy in the pre season, in the regular season then the offense can wear down some defenses. Force them to cover the entire field and let the oline pound in them all day and by the 4th qtr I think you could see some very wore down defenses
But everything depends on converting 3rd downs

I never understood the criticism Murray got for getting out of bounds. He didn't do it until after he got the 1st downs and was doing
The criticism was due to the fact that he was going out of bounds not to avoid hits, but because he didn't have enough speed and agility to make guys miss and get more yards.
