Mo's poor attempt at a tackle was horrible in two ways. First, he missed the tackle by not wrapping up. But second, his hit on Walker had a pinball bumper type of effect and changed Walker's trajectory resulting in Church overrunning the play.

Claiborne did slow him down enough that Church "could" have cleaned up the tackle, but Church overran it. I think Church will get more grief from the coaches than Claiborne on Walker not being tackled.

Guess I'm ok with that, despite my griping, particularly as Mo's psyche could probably use a bit of kid-treatment right now. It would be a shame if the missed opportunity to wrap up on this play overshadowed what otherwise appears to have been a very solid performance.

Yes, the only idea for next time would be to cheat Church over a bit, but if you choose to use that coverage - which they might opt out of using again if they burn you on it - then that throw is available. But, that means the offense knows what you are doing. So, hopefully, that is rare.

I didn't like how that coverage looked on the other side of the field either. If the ball had gone to the receiver coming across the field from the offensive right to left, I don't think Church could have gotten to him. It would have been good to see Church only focused on one side of the field with Bruce Carter taking a deeper drop and being the "Safety" behind Carr and Wilcox.

Thanks Sturm.

I agree there is probably not a single victim, but I wonder what the coaches would do differently or what they would have the players do differently in the future.

Like Bob said, there is a play to beat every coverage.

What the DC might say is that they expected someone to get pressure on the passer sooner so he didn't have time to throw downfield. A good pass rush makes the secondary better, isn't that we always say?

Another thing, I have heard a lot of people say how slow Church and Carr are and that Walker shouldn't have been able to score. Basically, Walker doesn't pull away from Church, he stays about the same distance ahead and is just running at an angle....there really isn't much yardage gained and Church had to change directions after the Claiborne collision. Carr shows some pretty decent closing speed but Walker is running toward him trying to stay away from Church. If Walker runs a 4.5, then Church and Carr are pretty darn close to that.

Good point on the pass rush. I think this down was 3rd and 3 which would cause the DL to looking for a run.

Carr ran a sub 4.5 forty and Church got faster when he lost about 10 pounds a couple of years ago.

I think it is but am not 100%
It remiinds me of running on a moving sidewalk at the Airport. It feels like you're running incredibly fast. If anybody ever has the chance I recommend trying it. I figured "this is what it feels like to run as fast as Deion".

Is that at the Michael Johnson performance center?

That place is in Frisco right by Stonebriar Mall and about 2 minutes from where the new Cowboys facility is being built. The Michael Johnson center is located in McKinney, a suburb just northeast of Frisco. A lot of money, a lot of "helicopter dads", and a lot of professional athletes (even non-Dallas based) live in Collin County. So there are several training facilities like that in the area.
