Success or failure will have nothing to do with their skilled position players!

Cowboys have always had star, positional players throughout their roster, but the reason why they haven't won a Super Bowl in 30 years is their inability to win the trenches. 49ers, Rams, GB all dominated the trenches in our recent playoff losses:

-Cannot stop the run with any consistency, especially against the playoff teams. This started against the Rams several years ago, where misdirection gave the Cowboy defense fits. Teams started to avoid the Cowboy strong pass rush and ran the football with authority against their light personnel up front.

-It is the same script, but on the other side of the football. Cannot run the football with any consistency, especially against the playoff teams. Just like the offense avoiding the pass rush, defenses started to play shell coverage and dared the Cowboys to run against light boxes. They couldn't make teams pay!

-Offensive Line hasn't played well for years! Cannot run block as previously discussed, have had major struggles in pass protection, especially teams that don't blitz and always are among the most penalized units in the entire league that kill drives. We all kill their run defense, but the OL issues might be worse and this group is loaded with high draft picks. Just go back and re-watch all the Cowboy playoff losses to the 49ers, the offensive line is a big problem. It isn't coincidence that they made it a priority to fix this offseason.

Adding Pickens, Donovan EZ, Revel, Blue are terrific skilled, positional players, but the success inside the trenches on both sides of the football will determine how far this team goes this season and beyond!

We should add a DT before regular season starts. I believe they will address the run defense issue eventually. It's not like we've run out of time just yet. Lots of possibilities.

You are leaving out the elephant in the room and most undervalued position by this organization since Aikman retired. A franchise QB makes all the players around him better.

I thought Dak was the franchise player? If so, what happened?

Did the rest of the team let him down?

An extremely predictable offense for the past 15 years did not help.
Outdated defensive schemes as well or using Safeties as LB's.
If you are honed like a machine with top players and play disciplined, you can still win the chip. Coaching discipline into the players matters for teams that keep it simple.

Our 1992-1995 team was as predictable as one could get in the 90's. QB that made few errors, dominant o-line, stud RB, excellent defense. Run Emmitt down the gut and pass when needed. The other team knew what was coming but it didn't matter.

Philly 2024: QB that made few errors, dominant o-line, stub RB, dominant defense. Run Saquan down the gut and pass when needed. The Chiefs knew what was coming but it didn't matter. Can't put all your defensive eggs in the same basket against teams like the 1992 Boys or 2024 Eagles.

It's just harder to put that type of team together today with the cap.

You are also forgetting he has missed many games dues to injury.

My point is, it isn't just about fixing their run defense, have big problems on offense as well.

They always do. It’s on every coach and player except Dak….the great one. Too many fans bought his jersey so they’re tied to him like an anchor around their neck.

that's why I found it a little amusing did you watch all of Dan Quinn's games with Washington last year including the one where they just got blasted in the NFCCG??!!

I saw a whole lot of the same defense somehow, they managed to get to the NFC Championship game not dominating in the trenches, again, that's why if people believe they're going to take another step forward, they may take a step back....

I mean look at all the games the couple of lucky games with Noah Browns Hail Mary there was some luck in there etc

where they got some games they shouldn't have but you look at a lot of games where they got ran over, hell including I believe our games i'm pretty sure Rico did pretty well they barely beat our practice squad...

so as much as I want us to improve this is not just solely the Dallas Cowboys that struggle with this,

I just want to make sure people understand that there are holes on every team,
some people do have better line of the other defensive line we're working hard on our offensive line to get it back to its glory days we got some work to do on the defensive line ,
but this is not the only team in the league that struggles to do the same things apparently you can't click your fingers or throw money at the position and it automatically gets resolved.
but the OP Needs to understand it's not going to get fixed overnight, but we need to give it a chance we'd literally double down in a draft we brought back Rogers I think we improved the linebacker cord I think it's going to be a better defense just injuries not happening like they did last year it just decimated the defense...
