The top 2 NFC Teams last season were the Lions & Eagles:

Eagles were #2 in rushing, Lions were #6
#5 & #7 in rushing yards per carry
Eagles lead the league in time of possession, Lions were #2

Lions lead the league in the least amount of rushing attempts against their defense, Eagles were #7

This is the old blueprint that the Cowboys successfully used in Dak's rookie season that lead to them earning the #1 seed. Successfully run the football, control the clock and force teams to play catch up. Fix the run game and team success will follow!

One tiny problem.......Lions and Eagles RBs vs ours (lol). That's on Jerry.....he dropped the ball...again

Easy to find a back, hard part is getting the line together
Schott was adamant about a running game, I hope he chose primo assistants to shape up the OL. I think they're young, but talented, have the right demeanor enough to make a good go at. Aren't they all 1st if not 2nd rounders?

I mean they average about what, 6'5" and 330 each.

Get'um going coaches!

Our new oc had a strong ground attack with a bunch of no names in Arizona. They had a good back, but our OL is far more talented. On paper is should be much improved

The Eagles lead runner is very long of tooth right now.

Keep Dak Presscott standing and there is plenty of speed to run it also.

Play tough opponents to needing a field goal for one to win.

I think this Dallas Oline by week 5 will be one of the better units in the league, and some holes will be there to run through.Dallas will fine running the ball.

Well, 99% of the time I agree.

However, we are in a position where defenses move up to allenge our short passing game and run. Because they do not fear the intermediate to deep routes.
Hopefully moving the QB and creating separation is going to help this situation. Until we make defenses defend the whole field , we will struggle to have a effective run attack.
Hopefully Daks lower body will hold up. Fortunately they are making progress with Joe, which has me excited, because his chance will come.

Disagree, teams have played shell coverage to take away the deep passing game and force the passes underneath.

There is no guarantee that they will instantly be better, it is going to take time and they need to also find a capable runner.

Yep, good thing we went all in by devoting a 5th, a 7th, and two scrap heap FAs to the position.
The league has proven you do not need an elite running back to be successful running the football. Just look at Arizona whom was a top 5 rushing team under our new OC Adams. I agree, we might not have an option on this team, but they are easy to find.

And the defense was putrid last year and they did very little to improve it. Tough to run the ball when you give up more points than almost any other team.
The counter argument is in Dak's rookie season our defense was worse and yet we earn the #1 seed. Controlling the football is the key. Teams will be forced to play catch up knowing they may not see the football again for several minutes.

Four TD and 0 Interception Games.
