Hey all. So I am looking at coming down to Dallas for either the Saints or Eagles game. I have looked on star sports tours website and the costs are a little crazy. I am curious. Would it be cheaper for me to scalp tickets pay my own flight and hotel? I really wanted a tour of the star AT&T and the whole shabang. What are your thoughts? Any help would be great. Thanks

Do a cost comparison between the 2 for each game. I've never used the sports tours website to say if they inflate their price much or not.

Keep us updated on what you decided to do. I also want to see a game in Dallas...I have seen the Cowboys in Detroit. Detroit fans are alright, they like to trash talk a lot, but to their credit they will also shake your hand, letting you know it was all in good fun...and I've never had a physical confrontation ... and I always wear my #82 proudly.

Fellow Torontonian here. I too have explored a trip. Agreed star sports tours is crazy expensive. Try expedia and bundle a package of flight, hotel and car rental, if needed. You can grab a decent hotel not too far from the stadium. Problem is ticket prices. Unless you want nose bleeds or standing room only, a decent seat might cost close to 250 CAD. Also, a consideration may be to wait until December - American Airlines will begin new direct service from Buffalo to Dallas, so maybe the flight will be cheaper.

As a guy who lives in the D/FW area- stay in Ft. Worth. Way better than Dallas. It’s cheaper, cleaner, and closer to Arlington. Here are a couple of recommended places-
  • Texas White House Bed and Breakfast- in FW- free breakfast, easy access to I30 which takes you to ATT
  • Hampton Inn downtown FW- nothing fancy but clean comfortable
  • Hyatt Place in Stockyards- a little pricier but in historic stockyard area.
Sundance square in FW is awesome. Great restaurants, safe to walk around and pretty affordable. Easy to park. That’s what I would do!

Uber isn't overly expensive in the area. Last time I went (I'm from Vancouver) I rented a car, but honestly driving on those highways is sort of intimidating. Not used to crossing six lanes of cars ripping it over 120kph to take an exit or else head completely wrong direction haha.

And I recommend not staying in dt dallas, it's too much of a business district, so nothing going on at night. I'm going to Jags game, I'll be staying around the Star in Frisco. The hotels are pretty cheap, mostly 3 star but brand new and really well reviewed.

I highly recommend doing a tour of stadium, I love throwing ball around on field. I wanted to do tour
of the star but no tours on days I'm there unfortunately

Are they sticking it to you in Canadian dollars? How much of a price difference would there be if you had someone you know in the States do your purchasing?

Oh I forgot, try Craigslist but meet the scalper somewhere public. It can be risky though, sometimes they sell fake tickets but so far (Knock on wood,) I haven’t been burned yet..

..Bob,, I keeping this in case I ever end up in Ft. Worth area. ;)

Yo yo yo. Don’t stay in funky town or “little D” if you wanna party. If you just wanna have a couple drinks and have a quiet evening, then yes funkytown will do.

Get yourself a place in the downtown/ uptown area. Hit moxies on Maple at night to start off with. Ooooooooh weeeeeeeee. Trust me.

Make sure you go to Pecan Lodge for bbq.....routinly ranked as a top 3 in Texas for bbq....its amazing

Any food suggestions near Frisco? I won't be close to DT dallas most likely for the 4 days I'm there. Wife wants to see a night life (stayed DT last time and found none), what do you suggest close to Frisco? I know uptown supposed to have a cool bar strip

Been a while for me since I lived in Plano but I loved a place called la hacienda for awesome tex mex that isn't too pricy....one thing with Dallas is there is no shortage of amazing restaurants

I dont know what funky town or little d are but I'll make sure to check out the moxies moxies lol. I am not much of a club goer to be honest so my night might just stay at moxies haha

I just went to the season opener, here is my advice:

1) The tours sell out up to TWO MONTHS in advance. I couldn’t do either tour because I tried to buy tickets the week before. Sold out. Buy those tour tickets as soon as you know which game you’ll see.

2) On the Saturday night before the game, go to Texas Live. You local folks are lucky to have such an incredible venue there, it really rocks.

In fact, if you’re going for a Sunday night game, go to Texas Live during the early games then walk over to the stadium. Seems to be what everyone is doing this year.

3) I don’t think you can scalp anymore? This year the stadium went to 100% electronic tickets, no more paper. I guess there is some way to scalp where people transfer the tickets to your phone, but I honestly didn’t see any scalpers

Don’t stay in Dallas, stay in Ft worth it’s cheaper and more to do. Dallas can be very intimidating for someone not from here, its much bigger than ppl think. Fort Worth is 20ish mins closer to the stadium than Dallas too.
