OK, guys, you're Stephen Jones. Rather going for 3-4 bottom feeders, you've found enough you can create enough cap space to sign ONE big-time free agent. Both Suh and Thomas can impact this D with leadership and be three-down day one starters. Who you signing ..........

Note: Seahawks agreed to take 2018 2nd and 2019 3rd for Thomas

Ndamukong Suh - DL - Dolphins
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins will consider releasing DT Ndamukong Suh.

Jackson said the move is "under consideration." The Herald reported in February that Suh could be designated as a post-June 1 cut, which would save Miami $17 million under the salary cap. The five-time Pro Bowler is due a guaranteed $8.5 million if he's still on the roster by March 19, so the clock is ticking. Suh turned 31 in January and hasn't missed a game since 2011. He would be an extremely hot commodity on the open market.

Earl Thomas - DB - Seahawks
NFL.com's Mike Garafolo reports the Seahawks would have to be "blown away" to trade Earl Thomas.

Garafolo confirms that Thomas has been made available, but only for the steepest of prices. It's similar to what the Seahawks did with Richard Sherman last offseason. Most signs have pointed toward Thomas remaining in Seattle for the final year of his contract.

I'd be okay with giving a third straight up for Earl Thomas, Seattle would get a third in compensation for losing him in free agency so that's his value. He is better than any third rounder we could pick, I believe he wants to be here long term, his learning curve would be less than the rest of our secondary, and he makes our team better right away.

The Cowboys will not give up a 2nd and 3rd for a free agent with 1 year remaining on his contract.

I'm not certain they would sign him if the Seahawks cut him.

They've already indicated they're more focused on the long term than on this season; otherwise, they wouldn't consider tendering Irving as a 2nd.

In regards to Suh, Garrett is adamantly against players that would "talk back" to him (Greg Hardy types). It would likely have to be something like a 1-year, 8M deal for them to consider Suh.

Honestly, neither.
You're seriously going to pass on an all-time great all-pro defender with YEARS of all-pro ball left in him? Come on, you guys are way to overly pragmatic. He's apart of the future and the now. You sign him, work on an extension. Draft a one-tech, and or bring in a guy for cheap like Daquan Jones of the Titans who is a Free Agent and 26. Can get after the passer and is a dominant run defender. Sign a Demario Davis, or Avery Williamson at LB. Now all of a sudden this team looks like it can do damage. I don't see why you wouldn't try to do this, a third rounder isn't out performing a hall of fame guy still in his prime. Who still has a major impact on the game.

Guys like Suh and Earl Thomas have the best years of their careers in their rear view mirror. Suh is talented but overrated. What did he really do to help Miami? Thomas was great at one time. Now he’s just pretty good but with the price tag of someone performing at a much higher level.

Just say no.

Our best prospects at Safety are probably in the draft. And our DL will probably have some new young talent too to go along with a pretty good talent base to start with.

I bet we could get Thomas for a fifth. Say Seattle ends up getting a third round comp pick for him. He'll play in 2018, leave the team for the 2019 season, and then that third rounder would come in the 2020 draft. The rule of thumb is that a pick this year is worth one round more than a pick next year. For a pick two years later, it's worth even more.

That being said, on our end we'd have to take on $10 million in salary for an aging, declining vet on a one-year rental.

I’d give up a 3rd round pick for Thomas. As others have mentioned, should he leave we’d likely get an end of 3rd compo pick in 2020. 1 yr 10m is cheap for a pro-bowl safety and may be very useful as a leader of a young DB group.

A 2nd is way too rich, we’ve seen top guys in their final year get trade for 3rd-5th rounders, that’s the fair market price IMO.

Thomas would make a great addition to that young secondary,he could be a fine leader for them.

Pass on Suh,we got some young talent on the D-line let them develop...maybe draft a DT.

Thomas would need to give Dallas a hometown discount and the Seahawks would need to want a low pick. I bet there will be a sucker team out there that overbids for Suh.

Problem is cowboys will do nine of those things

There isn't a single person in this FO who has any notion of how to build a team and the ability to actually go out and do it

They're happy to tread water and print money with staying 'relevant' and hustling events like the draft

Winning is not a priority

Wish I could disagree. They don't even understand the function of a NT or a FS.

How are you proposing we fit his salary in?

I can't believe these replies.

Im honestly in shock.

These players are tops at their positions, which are very important positions being the middle of the defense, and yall are just saying "nah id rather have neither". Jeeze.

Im not trading a 2nd AND 3rd for ET3, despite him having many great years ahead of him.

If released, I'd go after Suh. Has missed two games in his entire career which I would assume was from suspension. Talk about durable.
