Sun-Times: How a nation lost its team... Cowboys are no longer America's Team

blah, blah, blah - they are A.T., they're not A.T., they are, theyre not

WHO CARES!!!! How many decades do we have to hear this silly back and forth?

No kidding. It's always the same story. In the 90's they were saying the 49er's wre the "new" Americas team. The late 90's it became the Packers. The early 00's it became the Patriots. And now it's the Bears.

Do we have a trend here. If they are still trying to replace the Cowboys as America's team, then they must be Americas team.

Ridiculous and mean spirited article. I agree with the things the other posters here said. Telander is not going to win any friends with the religious references.

FYI, Rick Telander used to write for SI. In 1981 he did a good article on Dorsett that I enjoyed very much.

Here's my e-mail to Mr. Telander personally. I focused on his errors.

Good day sir.

Good work there SF.

tell him to check the neilson ratings tomorrow. they surely won't be watching for Rex Grossman. matter fact, I'll send him an email.

I love a good ***** envy article.

and Hos that was some ownage in your email

This article coming out now, makes me laugh.
Did this guy watch last weeks game?
There seemed to be an over-abundace of Cowboy fans there.
Go ask Jason Taylor who he thinks is America's team.

How come every time we play a team out of our division, who we are playing on the road, they bring out the old America's team thing?
Yo Chicago....get a qb, then you will not have to worry about making up bulletin board material to fire up your team.

Hypocrisy is "quintessentially American"? Spare me the wannabe pundits who think they should be writing for the editorial page and not the sports section.

You have to be an old-timer like Mr. Sunday Stew to understand how and why the Dallas Cowboys got that moniker, and how nonsensical such a nickname is today.

Maybe the author should ask the 24 year old Tommie Harris who is America's Team. He isn't an old guy, but he still knows who AT is.

I just read what Hostile's response was.
That was great.
It shows what a forum of real fans know compared to a writer with an agenda.

Another thing doesn't make sense: he bemoans the loss/absense of America's Team, but spends a lot of time implying that America's Team never really existed due to all the behind-the-scenes vice. To me, the nickname was always synonymous with ratings, glitz, and a wide fan following, not players' behavior.

:hammer:

This guy is utterly clueless, this is the type of writing you expect to see on a rival board like extremeskins, not in a paper like the CST

You must not read much Chicago Sun-Times. They're Chicago's version of the NY Daily News.

no I dont read them much, but I would stil expect realism to be in the paper, I guess like the daily news thats to much to ask LOL

I like how he took the time to insult my team, my intelligence and my faith.
I wish I weighed 50 pounds more, was two inches taller, a smidge quicker and playing tonight.

SUNDAY STEW | They were 'America's Team' for plenty of wrong reasons, and now the Cowboys lack that special quality that made them great

What a complete dumb arse article. So I guess the fact that the Boyz draw the highest ratings on every single network proves we are no longer Americas's team.

How old is this reporter, like 12???
