Do you still make or enjoy the "Sunday Dinner"?

I ask this because, every Sunday I make something bigger and better than any day of the week. Sometimes it's something closer to a Christmas or Thanksgiving deal than not.

Maybe it's just a carry-over to my upbringing. I'm the primary cook in my house, and every Sunday I make something that I'd like to think is "special". Today, I made Cornish Game Hens baked with a rice-pilaf stuffing and bell peppers. Last Sunday, I made Teryaki Pork Chops, a mushroom pasta side and hard-boiled eggs. Recently, I made a Pot Roast with all the fixins..............

Am I alone out here? Does anyone else go a bit overboard on Sundays, or is it just me....................??

Just us, it's a normal meal.

Get the whole family together, I bet my mother to cook a feast. :D

Typically my family does. Sunday is our day of rest. So the dinner is usually started on Saturday night and eaten for lunch first, then dinner. Most of the time we end up doing a roast or a ham in the crock pot.

It is very rare that our family doesn't plan Sundays meal.

I'd like to believe that most folks STILL do something a little extra for Sunday Dinner.

In the old days, when we were kids, it seemed everyone did so. We always did in our home.

Then again, maybe I do it more in the off-season to have something to look forward to on Sundays too. Won't be long now before Sundays become occupied with the greatest sport and greatest TEAM in the world again. 'Till then, a special dinner will have to do...................

It's not quite the same as when Sunday dinner meant being at my grandmothers house and her excellent tomato sauce and pasta and sometimes home made pizza, but that's neither better or worse.

In my case it's more often than not, Saturday dinner, because my wife usually visits her parents on Sunday.

I love to cook and don't have the chance all week because of work, so as much as possible, if we're not headed out, I make Saturday dinner something special. Not mattering much in size, but in making sure it's something uncommon and something I know my wife really likes. Usually a seafood dish.

That sounds great Lewpac.

Right now it's just the wife and I, with the first little one due in 8 weeks or so. Thus far we don't really do anything special for Sunday dinner as far as cooking. We usually try to relax and enjoy each other over the weekends as much as possible, although we often have to do more work around the house than we would like to.

Sounds like a great tradition, families don't seem to do that kind of stuff as much anymore. Good on you.

When the family gets together, and being Italian, there is nothing like homemade meatballs and some kind of pasta. :)

Since it's just me. I normaly cook some thing simple. Tonight it's a smoked sausage with onions, a rice with cheese side dish, salad and Diet Coke night.

Growing up my mom would go all out on Sunday. She was raised in the country, so there were some dishes I just flat out refused to eat. Just stuck with vegetables.

Living alone, I usually fix something simple...sometimes as simple as a bowl of cereal. However, whenever that status changes, then I'll be picking up the Sunday dinner tradition.

There are plenty of Cowboys fans you can meet.

Sadly, I'm dating a 49er fan..

GOOD LORD!!!!

I thought we had problems BEFORE!!!! (You know, all the "banning" me stuff).

Wat up girl? There are 28 other teams a guy can root for besides the Giants, E-Girls, Skins or Niners, and YOU had to pick a NINER???????

Get an arbitrator and a counselor on board right away. This thing is a "marriage made in hell" from the get-go. No way a Whiner fan and a "Gods team" faithful can co-exist. Just my opinion, but I don't see it.
