The Cowboys hit the practice field this morning in helemts and shoulder pads. This is the first of two for the day. Coach Wade Phillips has been disappointed in his club's mental approach the last few days and has vowed more testing of his players.
All I can say is, its about time!

10:25:08 am Cowboys K Buehler was singled out for his aggressiveness on kickoff coverage by owner Jerry Jones. This morning, Buehler is working as a blocker on the kickoff return.

10:50:08 am Starting CBs newman groin and Jenkins (ankle) could be back to practice next week. Both are doing full speed competitive sprints with the strength coach and look very fit in the process.

There is a noticeable up tempo in the Cowboys 9-on-7 drill today. The first OL really has taken to the defense's front seven. OGs Kosier and Davis have been very physical at the point of attack.
"11:18:45 am Cowboys CB Courtney Brown"continues to struggle in his coverage. It doesn't matter which WR he faces, he struggles to sustain contact in the route and be in any type of position to make a play on the ball. "11:17:52 am Working on a third-down drill, both Cowboys OL's have done an excellent job in blitz pick up. That has allowed QBs Romo and Kitna plenty of time to scan the field and hit WRs on the move. 11:04:58 am Cowboys rookie LBs Jason Williams and Victor Butler look much better in the 9-on-7 drill getting off blocks and playing with their hands than they did in the Oakland game.

Every time Cowboys RB Felix Jones"has lined up or motioned to the outside as a WR, coach Wade Phillips has played with a linebacker over the top of him in coverage. Jones' speed is way too much for a LB to have to cover in space. 11:30:07 am There really is nothing pretty about the way that Cowboys Sam Hurd WR runs routes but in this camp, he has been the most consistent and reliable WR that the club has down after down.

I don't think Courtney Brown makes the team this year. Patrick Watkins might because of special teams contribution if Mickens finds the practice squad, but Courtney Brown didn't look good against the Raiders first team receivers or against the camp fodder in the second half.

I really hope that the team doesn't try to put Mike Mickens on the practice squad.

Brown has the look of a player that knows he has no shot of making the team this year but isn't going to quit until they cut him. Just looks like he going through the motions.

It'll be interesting if defenses risk putting a LB alone on Jones or if they roll a saftey over to him and what the does to Roy or the #2 WR or the TE.

I completely disagree he ran some extremely crips routes the other night.

He left one Raider look for his jock on a route where he faked outside and the guy bit on it hard.

In the Ravens-Foreskins game, I watched Fletcher tring to cover Ray Rice out of the backfield and he got burned badly. I was thinking, man if he tries that with FJ it's 6 all day....
