May be wrong but isn't this the first time a SB has ended with an interception inside the 5 yard line where it prevented a win?

1966 NFL championship game (Superbowl started the next year) is closest. Meredith threw an int from the 2 yard line

Yep - I believe it is. Montana had one dropped inside of a minute but I think it was from around the ten.

Interesting how one play can define a career whether it happens or doesn't. You could see Brady thinking " why me" with the miracle falling catch.. and then ultimate joy when the int occurred....

No, the Superbowl started two weeks after that NFL title game. The Packers secured their win against Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on the interception and then played the Kansas City Chiefs in the first Superbowl.

Taking that into account I would think its correct to state that this sets a new standard for losing a SB ? Wonder when we will hear that about Wilson/Seahawks/ coaches.

My guess never.....

Super Bowl X - Staubach threw a Hail Mary that was intercepted by Glen Edwards in the end zone on the last play of the game.

BTW

Brady is giving Butler the truck he got for winning the MVP.
pretty cool

True, but that was more a desperation heave from around 40 yd out, down by four with second ticking off. btw, I don't recall but read that Percy Howard was pushed in the back in the end zone either on that play or on the play just prior. Not like the refs are going to throw the flag in that situation. ...........er, not like the refs are going to throw the flag against the Pittsburgh Steelers in that situation.

Somebody knew the playcall. The Patriots clearly weren't fooled, yet everyone else in the world thought at least run or some other pass option.

Well... You know.....

We could go back to SPYGATE for this one.

He broke on that ball with the quickness. He did say that he knew the play that was coming. Lol

I saw Pete Carroll on something & he said he has actually cried over that play.

This will hang with them forever.
