Twitter: Super Bowl Teams Who Continually Draft OL In The 1st Round.

The Problem with the Cowboys in most years is not who they take in the draft, esp the first round.

The problem is they rely too heavily on the draft because they do not take FA as serious as other teams. Ever since DB Carr they have went the cheap skate I am afraid to dip my toe in the water method of approaching FA.

So when that happens if you miss on a pick for a year or two in a row, like it seems with Mazi and maybe Guyton. It hurts the team. When the team did pretty much nothing last year in FA. It hurts the team.

Whether people like it or not, Dallas IS one of the best drafting teams in the NFL...again the problem is they ARE one of the worst teams when it comes to getting high quality FAs.

The Cowboys continue to do things differently from the winning franchises in the NFL.

This why fans like myself hate seeing my team draft OL every year in the 1st round.

It means nothing without weapons.
And I'll bet most, if not all, of the oLine picks for those teams were OTackles.... not guards. Huge difference between tackling a Tackle with a high 1st rounder than tacking a guard (i.e. a FAT fullback with TRex arms)

EVERYONE keeps saying fix the trenches, and when they do now we're mad!??? lol it's our fault yall
Franchise Tackles are premier players with huge impact on the game. There's a reason you hear the phrase "Franchise Tackle" often, but nobody has ever said%heard the phrase "he's a Franchise Guard". There's no such thing as a Franchise guard

OFF Tackle > Center > Guard.

AND a 1st round QB.

The thing is though I don't think all these guys we drafted in the first round were our first choice, but our safe backup pick if the difference maker they set their eyes on was gone. Probably the case this year too -- difference makers we wanted were gone already, and we couldn't find a good deal to drop back, so we just picked a really safe pick in an area of need.

Frankly we have gotten really good guys this way, and I suspect a higher hit rate if 'our guy' had actually been there for selection.

I mean this is a stat i guess but wouldn't it be more truthful to say "SuperBowl winning teams who have the same GM for 30 years who hasn't won"...Booker is not why this team isnt going to the SB...it was the Ole Miss DT or the Bamma OG...i wanted the DT also but the OG isnt a bad pick, we all knew they would probably give Mazi one more year and get a DT in the later rounds..if this was the HC desicion even better..give him what he wants and hold him accountable for it, if it doesnt work clean house in 3 years including players and start with a new staff...

It is stupid strategy.

Especially when you basically ignore the interior DL.

The problem remains that this kid could literally be HOF level, like Martin before him, and it not translate to any success at all because he plays a position that accounts for very small impact in the grand scheme of things.

Using the 12 pick on a guard, when you have impactful position needs, is not what a serious franchise would do.

I expect the coach wants to build team around the run. Jeanty only RB worth taking at 12. I hope they can get Henderson from OSU next to add some breakaway explosive to the backfield. Deep RB class.

I'd don't know about Javonte but I'd like to add Chubb. I think Chubb has a chip on his shoulder to get back close to what he was. Sanders, meh but having all of Henderson, chubb and Javonte would be nice. Sanders could be fall back if they bring in chubb and he is washed up. I wouldn't bet against Chubb.

Of course Breece Hall or K walker would be good trade targets. Both those 2 are impressive, IMO, and could be on the trade block?

Dobbins is FA still, right?

Philly just won a SB and had a 1st round OL and two second round OL. So it’s not like they built the best OL in the NFL by turning a bunch of 5th rounders into all pros.

They invested in the OL with premium picks too.
