Twitter: Super Bowl Teams Who Continually Draft OL In The 1st Round.

EVERYONE keeps saying fix the trenches, and when they do now we're mad!??? lol it's our fault yall
We are not mad,
There Are some people on The forum that are perpetually and obsessively mad and negative about everything.
If we missed out on Megatron Dan Marino or OJ Simpson I'd be like yeah we spit the bit but there was nobody there like that that we didn't take

AND a 1st round QB.

The Eagles drafted Lane Johnson in the top 5, Landon Dickerson at 37 and in Cam Jurgens the mid second. SMH. And Danny Watkins in RND 1 in 2011...

Chiefs drafted Eric Fisher #1 over all, but got hurt before the super bowl in 2020 and cost them the game!! Plus just drafted a Tackle in the first round last night!

Trent Williams was 4th overall, and added to the 9ers.

The Bucs drafted Barton in the first last year, and Tristan Wirfs in 2020 that set up their Super Bowl run!

SMH.... YOU DRAFT TALENT. YOU DEVELOP TALENT. Don't matter.

You looked all that up for what? You didn't prove anything in that data wrong.

Jerry is glad you like your shiny new Guard and hopes you enjoy the 7 wins next season.

Fair enough. But its not just where they are drafting everyone. It's the lack of development. That's where the other teams are miles ahead. Whether it's linemen or QB's or corners.
This is the full-blown truth we have to draft the trenches in the first round because for some unknown reason we cannot spot talent that needs to be developed in later rounds like other teams do.
Other teams draft lineman in later rounds let them put on their man weight and mature and develop them into serviceable players we find that a total impossibility so because we are what we are we have to do what we have to do

When are we gonna get to the “out” part of the “inside out” theory?
When we are done with Dak and his contract.
Let Dak deal with the learning curve of the young offensive lineman and by the time they put their man weight on and mature and are elite his contract will be up and we will be drafting our new franchise quarterback along with the important skill positions that will be young and fresh.

We want young fresh legs with our new franchise quarterback anchored by a seasoned veteran offensive line.

It's a plan that will work but not for the impatient Rome wasn't built in a day.
We are not going to any Super bowl with one guy making 60 million a year we need a young talented quarterback on his rookie deal to be able to stoke this team with talent and go deep into the playoffs.

You think 82 year old Jerry is thinking 5 years down the line?

Enjoy your shiny new guard and 7 win season.
We don't even need that many wins
We can build the defensive line in the next draft.
Since we don't participate seriously in free agency there's no quick fix to any of it.
But one thing for sure has to happen that 60 million contract has to expire before we can begin to think about going deep into the playoffs we need a talented guy on a rookie deal with a running game and protection to be successful.
Then with a nice seven win season we build the defense next year.
It's a process get a grip on it

I don't think 82-year-old Jerry is thinking much of anything constructive but somebody five years down the road will be running the team whether it be one of the Jones family or Stephen sells the team to somebody else but a good offensive line ready for a young franchise quarterback on a rookie deal is something to look forward to I'm just saying

As you can see though the fans love it!

They think Jerry is dumb, but they sure do love every move he makes.
Jerry didn't make the move it made too much sense he agreed to it though.
Jerry would have drafted the pygmy receiver that would have gotten injured in the third game when Dak hung him out to dry over the middle.
Not everybody's as tough as CD

thats true.

but i dont see no rookie qb. and i dont see one in the near future coming in.

so for what that overspending on not so important ol (rg) positions ?

We didnt even show interest in drafting one next year. we could have for example traded down accumulating picks next year to maybe draft one. but we had to spent a premium pick on a unimportant position.

this team refuses to tank a season that is officially lost (like 2024). Next season we will sport the same rubbish team like this year. In the end we will be sitting between 10 and 20 with our pick having essentially no chance to pick a potential franchise QB.

The Cowboys continue to do things differently from the winning franchises in the NFL.

This why fans like myself hate seeing my team draft OL every year in the 1st round.

It means nothing without weapons.
But think about how cheap that second contract will be resigning a OG vs. a skilled position  -JJ rationale

Philly just won a SB and had a 1st round OL and two second round OL. So it’s not like they built the best OL in the NFL by turning a bunch of 5th rounders into all pros.

They invested in the OL with premium picks too.
This is true…it’s a mix. Kelce was a 6th, Mailata a 7th…but the rest were 1st and 2nds mainly. I think Steen was a 3rd. It’s more important to have a consistent coaching staff with a consistent message and plan… That’s why it’s easier for the Eagles to just reload.

Some of the posts in this thread crack me up… Just because Dallas had a decent (even very good) offensive line a few years back, and did not go deep in the playoffs with it, that means that route should never be attempted again. It’s laughable. It’s the very definition of flawed logic.

Just for the record… Jerry is dumb… at least he has been the last few(several) years. That does not mean that your first round pick was not a good one. It is quite possible for two things to be true.

I've never heard a team say we need a guard to get us over the hump.

I don’t hate the pick.

But the team needs weapons.

It does appear the GM is stuck in the 90s.
Not really.

Tuinei and Newton were undrafted. Gogan was an 8th rounder. All three here before Jimmy (often overlooked)

Williams and Step were thirds.
