Is anyone else noticing what our team is starting to develop? This team is really starting to get a swagger about themselves. This defense is filled with young guys who are starting to gain an identity. Sure it was the Texans, but last week it hit me that this team is starting to gain a characteristic they haven't had in 10 years.

Crayton getting fired up after his catch, Roy laying the wood and seeing Canty and the boys going crazy. Greg Ellis picks the ball off and T New grabs it and starts heading for the house. Newman flying up giving chest bumps to players after they score TDs.

Am I the only person seeing this team start to develop an identity as a more 'charismatic' group?

I didn't even mention 9 to the 2nd power either.

Its time to get excited boys.

Actually, I haven't noticed. I haven't noticed much swagger at all. They are playing great run defense and that takes some cohesion I guess, but I'm not seeing any real swagger. You get that when you completely dominate throught-out several games. They (the Cowboys D) have not done that. They are actually showing inconsistent play overall.

I don't think they've been all that inconsistent. Bledsoe had an awful game in Jax, but the Eagles are a very good team and we almost stole that game at the Linc. If we had won, it would have been a great statement.

The real test comes this week, at home, against the Giants. This is a game we need to win, against a tough opponent. It's a great opportunity for a statement game.

No team is charismatic with a less-than-charismatic bus driver.

I suspect Jerry Jones will soon realize that the excitement about Terrell Owens being a Cowboy is waning, that the original excitement and enthusiasm about having Parcells here has already dissipated, and that the off-and-on-the-road, bouncing-up-and-down, unreliable, accident-prone, bus driver “leadership” of Drew Bledsoe can not instill the esprit de corps that a talented but young team needs to overcome all obstacles. His Bledsoe-led team is bland, and if there is anything Jerry Jones wants to avoid for the Cowboys it is a blandness that drains the franchise of the intense, colorful, exciting ambiance that he promotes. He wants a team with a spirited fire that creates an emotional, flag-waving, money-generating loyalty among fans, one that makes the fans participants in the struggle of a team of brash young men attempting to overcome all odds separating them from the goal – and confident they can do it.

Drew Bledsoe is too much like Bill Parcells for a young team that is willing and able to charge if led with zest. An aged, too-plodding general at staff headquarters is no immediate problem, but, for a team faced with an enemy’s incoming fire, having a passed-over, hesitant, indecisive, middle-aged captain muttering (too late), “follow me!”does not inspire youthful exuberance or faith in leadership.

The team needs a competent, charismatic, young leader in the quarterback spot. Tony Romo may or may not be the leader to inspire such team elan, but such a spirited, we-can-do-it-no-matter-what leader is needed. It is time to find him.

Just my opinion.

Compelling... Brady comes out before every game up in NE and fires the crowd up and basically goes crazy. I don't think I've ever seen Bledsoe get that excited.

Was Aikman all that charasmatic? He struck me as the stoic, striking-eyes type. Hardly a rah-rah cheerleader throughout games.

I don't think you necessarily need a real emotional QB. There are different ways to lead a team.

When you watch NFL games on TV they always show the team crowded in a circle and one guy (like Ray Lewis) firing up the team. When I see the Cowboys do it they always appear lackadaisical. As a Cowboy fan, it does concern me abit. Do the Cowboys have a fiery passion for the game?

Funny you mention that.

When I watched Troy and seen how hyped Jimmy could be I always thought that Troy would have been similar to Roger with Landry, both stoic.

While I could picture Joe Don with Jimmy.

Troy Aikman didn't have to lead with enthusiasm because he led with performance. Bledsoe on the other hand, well... yeah.

With that being said, who on our team is the vocal leader? Is it Roy, T-New, Ellis?

I'll agree with those statements. I actually think Bledsoe conducts himself in a similar fashion to Troy. Obviously, there are differenecs, but I think they're cut from the same mold. Performance-wise, they couldn't be further apart (Bledsoe has always been a yards guy and hasn't been known as the best decision maker; Troy was neither of those).

And I'll agree we could use a vocal leader. I just don't think it *has* to be the quarterback doing that.

Before the Philly game I heard Owens firing them up in the pregame huddle.

I think there is more than one way to be charismatic. Aikman was iron and steel resolve. He inspired his teammates to be their best, not by cheerleading them, but by forcing them to admire his dedication, preparation, and resolve to win, no matter what. But Drew Bledsoe, a good man, is not that kind, in my estimation. Moreover, Aikman and the teammates he led were of the same generation, for the most part. It was easy for him to relate to them, their aims, and aspirations, and he did it well.

Actually it seems to me that the other team always comes out more pumped than the 'boys, it's always "their Superbowl" vs. us. I'd like for the other team to look scared not pumped to face us.

i am tired of hearing about this crap....when one of these guys grows some nads they will dominate...i.e. ellis, canty, spears, ware...they are all just ok players...they need to take that extra step to dominance!

Ellis is playing outta position, Canty was a 4th round steal, Spears hasn't lived up to anything yet, and Ware is a much better player than we give him credit for on this board.

I agree with all you've posted. Amazing to me that we are playing as well as we are defensively. If we could ever get our Safeties to cover deep, we could be dangerous.
