Why is it that some top tier defenses have certain catalysts on their team that emotionally fire everyone up.

We need some fire and swagger on D and unfornuately for us, do not have those personalities....

Here are some examples....

New York Jets - Johnathan Vilma
New York Giants - Antoinio Pierce
Baltimore Ravens - Ray Lewis/ Ed Reed
San Diego Chargers - Juiced up Merriman
New England Patriots - Rodney Harrison
Philadelphia Eagles - Jerrimiah Trotter
Pittsburgh - Joey Porter

Sure there are others but I want a guy who pisses people off on the other team. A VOCAL leader and a S^it Talker. Too many nice, quite guys on the Cowboys Defense. I am not a Miami University fan but they have a swagger and are mostly all talkers. No one takes charge and plays with an attitude.

Someone please find me that person. I could care less if he is not a "perfect" off the field guy, just show me some intensity not some confused, bewildered, mild mannered Dallas Cowboy Defender who wouldnt scare Pee Wee Herman in the pocket....

I hope its Adalius Thomas and if we ran a 4-3 I wish it was Buster Davis we drafted.. I dont like the "Thug" schools or players but they can bring what this defense lacks...

Intensity and Heart...

just tell the team whoever doesn't perform well will have to go out partying with keith davis. That should scare em but good!

But we have catalysts like Roy Williams, Terence Newman, Bradie James, DeMarcus Ware and Greg Ellis.

If that type of passion and intensity doesn't get you fired up nothing will.

roy williams should be our "leader" because he is the face of the Cowboys right now but hes not tough enough to be a leader and i dont think he wants to be a leader which disapoints me...

He is too mild mannered on the field.. Sure he is a saftey but you only see emotion out of him when he gets a good hit ( which is coming less frequently these days) or he gets burnt ( which is coming more frequently).

The tossing of the hands and the pointing after a big pass play given up makes me want to spew....

bobby carpenter was the leader on that osu defense wasnt he?

AJ Hawk seemed like more of a leader on that D.

i think aj was just the best linebacker....but i was just curious if he could do that here? cause all of our dominant guys are quiet...

AJ Hawk didnt talk that much at OSU.. He led by example.. Carpenter and Shlegal were the vocal guys on the team.. I think Carpenter will grow into this defense but its hard for a young defensive team to respect a rookie whose not as vocal or for that matter only started one game...

I agree with the post. I started to ask if we have a swaggerless defense or a defenseless swagger? Either way we are leaderless in the locker room and in the coaches' room.

Unfortunately, Roy is too easy going. And that's the worst thing to have as a supposed leader.

Bring in Jimmy and trade Roy to Minnesota for 3 first round picks.
