Congratulations to Swaim for playing 93% of the snaps. Being a 7th round pick and now the starting TE. Swaim has 11 catches and 1 TD.

These are the top 5 TEs from the 2018 draft class so far:
1st round pick Hurst of the Ravens hasn't even played yet. 2nd round pick Andrews of the Ravens has 10 catches and one TD. 2nd round pick Mike Gesicki of the Dolphins has 5 catches for 50 yards. Eagles 2nd round pick Dallas Goedert has 10 catches, 7 against that vaunted Colts defense. Texans 3rd round TE Jordan Akins has 7 catches.

So a 4th year TE, outperforming rookies who have been in the league for 4 games. Is an accomplishment to write home about?

I have nothing against Swaim. He is a solid back-up TE. But the fact that somebody of his talent level, is playing 93% of the snaps and it’s NOT due to injury, is a joke.

Even when Witten was here I didnt like the way they used him. I always felt they restricted his talent by making him a short yardage security blanket.
Part of this was Witten slowing down towards the end of his career. Hard to stretch the field when your TE doesn't the speed anymore.

An affordable FA? A different draft pick? Jonathan Cooper?

Seems like a fairly easy question to answer with this line.

Jonathan Cooper? Yeah, good one. Who is he with right now? He couldn't even win a backup job in SF.

Yeah, no rookies setting the world on fire although I think over time Andrews will be a pretty good tight end.

Swaim seems to be doing fine, especially for the cap hit and draft capital used on him. I'm not sure why everyone is up in arms about Swaim.

Now the other three tight ends? I get the chagrin over them.

People don't want to hear this but Swaim is outperforming what Witten had at the end. The only area I think Witten was better than Swaim was finding creases in coverage.

Swaim is the new Terrance Williams. Gets surprisingly good numbers compared to the eyeball test.

Why? How much resource would you put into covering either of them? If you're the 5th threat on the field, teams don't devote much resource to stopping you.
esp on 3rd and 23 what's that all about lol. And he's running a five yard out as a decoy lol Get a real receiver out there sometime. We're always talking about 4 wr sets and triple threat backfield but it's turned in to the Jag te offense Experiment that is POINTLESS. Where is all that Rb depth and Competition for snaps w tavon, rod Smith, Bo Scarbrough, Beasely, Rico, Butler. Guys you actually are scared of and have starter qualities get low snaps and Swaim gets the key to the city. I haven't seen him drawing any coverage and he had below avg stats for 3 sraight games.

The Ironman every snap te days look gloomy for DC Nation. There's just one less big play receiver on the field you have to worry about. It's like going to a gun fight with a knife. Lol

What swaim doing out there on all those passing snaps. His stats don't add up to his involvement. Are we gonna line him up for a hail mary too??? Lmao I'm glad I got to watch the Boys in their Glory Years.

It's not we that needs to get better. It's the tes who are keeping better talent in the fog. It's time for a REVOLT!

That's what he'd pretty much became last season, but the #9 employed his deeper talents to greater effect

Swaim can block. We're a running team. That's what is keeping him on the field.

I was really hoping Olawale would be the designated blocking 5th skill player instead. Theoretically, at least, he gives us running, blocking, and receiving. Much better speed than Swaim, and I'd love always having another run threat the defense has to worry about.

For the Bo fans out there, let's hope Bo becomes that FB next year so can get on the field a lot more often.
