philthy had a MUCH superior team several years ago, esp on Defense, and played in a MUCH weaker division and STILL COULDN'T get to the SB.
Only reason they made it when they did was TO, despite what people think or say. If they didn't have homefield throughout, in large part thanks to TO, they don't go that year. Now, Philthy has no WRs, a decent TE, an overrated QB, and an offensive centerpiece who has yet to ever make it through a 16 game season. As Jim Mora would say...."PLAYOFFS????!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!?!?" Ok, its possible they could make the playoffs and exit first round but I think that's the max of their potential this year. And to do that even, Mcnabb would have to have the best year of his career and scramble a lot, which I don't think he can do so well anymore.
NE....hard to completely count them out when they've got the best QB in the league. I also think Maroney is going to be very good for them. However, Brady didn't have a lot of weapons to work with to begin and to keep taking more and more of those away meanwhile allowing more and more key defensive players to walk can't possibly make them better. NE is still a hard-nosed, battle-tested team with a GREAT QB but I just don't see them having the horses to get it done anymore. I think the good teams in the league are better than the good teams two years ago.
I am glad that Swami didn't pick the Cowboys to win it, because that would've been our death sentence guaranteeing that would wouldn't.
